NFL London: Minnesota Vikings Deep Dive

Ahead of their trip across the pond to London this October, we are taking a deeper look into the Minnesota Vikings ahead of their game against the Cleveland Browns at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

No less than six NFL Franchises will be heading to the UK once more in October 2025 for the annual NFL London Games in the English Capital. The Minnesota Vikings are one of the sides that will be making the trip across the pond, where they will be looking for another win in the regular season.

The Vikings, who are currently led by their Head Coach Kevin O’Connell, will be taking on Kevin Stefanski’s Cleveland Browns at the iconic Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the heart of North London, on the afternoon of Sunday, 5th October 2025.

One player in particular to look out for amongst the Vikings’ roster is their 26 year old wide receiver Justin Jefferson. In his rookie career, he set a franchise record for the most receptions with 88 – this was a record that had been held by Randy Moss when he got 69 receptions in 1998. Not only that, as a rookie he was the fourth player in NFL history to record 100 yards in seven games alongside the likes of Harlon Hill, Odell Beckham Jr, and Bill Groman.

He also currently holds the record for most receptions (324) and receiving yards (4,825) in what is a player’s first three seasons in the history of the league.

In terms of the head to head record, it is Minnesota who currently holds the advantage with a grand total of 12 wins in this fixture so far, whilst the Browns have so far managed 5 victories against the Vikings to date. The two sides are yet to tie in a game, and both sides will be hoping that this won’t happen when they meet in London later this year.

2025’s London Games will not be the first time that the Minnesota Vikings have played a regular season NFL game in the English capital city. They have made the trip on 4 occasions previously, which came back in 2013, when they were 27 – 34 winners at Wembley Stadium against the Pittsburgh Steelers in September that year.

Their next visit then came 4 years later, when they were victorious once again, this time at Twickenham, when they were able to defeat the aforementioned Cleveland Browns 33 – 16 on 29th October 2017. This is also the last time that these two sides have met in the UK.

Then, in October 2022, they made it three wins from three in London when they were 28 – 25 winners against the New Orleans Saints in what was an enthralling and competitive game at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

This was followed by yet another victory for the Vikings in England back in October 2024, where they once again played in North London, this time beating the New York Jets 17 – 23. They will be hoping to make it 5 wins out of 5 in the English Capital later this year.

Unfortunately for the Minnesota Vikings, they have so far never won the Super Bowl, and they have had four appearances in Super Bowls of the past, which came back in 1970, 1974, 1975, and then again two years later in 1977.

The Vikings have also made 32 play-off appearances in the NFL, with their first coming in 1968, whilst their most recent appearance at this stage of the season came back in the 2024/25 NFL Play-Offs.

They are a franchise that has a tremendous amount of history. They made their debut in the NFL in 1961, when they were 37 – 13 winners against the Chicago Bears. Not only that, the Vikings were also the winners of the final NFL Championship before the merger between the NFL and the American Football League back in 1969, beating the Cleveland Browns 27 – 7.

According to the odds offered by ESPN, the Minnesota Vikings are most certainly a side who are seen as having a good chance of competing for the win in the Super Bowl this season.

Excitement is building ahead the NFL action returning to London, with the Minnesota Vikings set to take on the Cleveland Browns at the iconic Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday 5th October 2025.
