NFL: Looking ahead to Super Bowl LX

NFL Trophy

The Super Bowl is just over the horizon, and here we take a look ahead at one of the biggest sporting events in the world.

The current NFL season is nearing its conclusion, and it is set to end with the annual and highly prestigious Super Bowl, which is set to return once more in 2026. Known as Super Bowl LX, this game will be played on Sunday, 8th February 2026 at the 68,500 capacity Levi’s Stadium, which is located in Santa Clara, in the state of California. The game will get underway at 23:30 (UK Time), which is 15:40 Pacific Time (PT) in the United States.

The two teams participating in this blockbuster contest, one of the world’s biggest sporting events, have yet to be decided.

As of the time of writing, four sides are still in contention for a place at this game, with the Denver Broncos and the New England Patriots set to go toe to toe at the Empower Field at Mile High, whilst the Seattle Seahawks and Los Angeles Rams will be competing at Lumen Field.

The first of these two games will see the Broncos and the Patriots face each other on Sunday, 25th January 2026, with kick-off at 20:00 (UK Time), whilst the Seahawks and the Rams will play against each other in a game that begins just a few hours later at 23:30 (UK Time).

The winners of these games will, of course, see them book their spot in the Super Bowl for 2026. All four have won the Super Bowl previously, with the aforementioned Patriots having the most currently with 6, which they won back in 2001 (XXXVI), 2003 (XXXVIII), 2004 (XXXIX), 2014 (XLIX), 2016 (LI), and most recently in 2018 (LII).

New England has the joint most Super Bowl wins in history so far, alongside the Pittsburgh Steelers to date. They will be looking to become the most successful franchise in Super Bowl history outright this season.

The side with the next most Super Bowls out of the four competing for a place at Super Bowl LX is the Denver Broncos, who have three to their name so far. They won it for the first time back in the 1997 (XXXII) season with a 31 – 24 victory over the Green Bay Packers, before then following it up the following year with their 1998 season (XXXIII) victory against the Atlanta Falcons, who they beat 34 – 19.

Then came the Broncos’ most recent victory in the Super Bowl back in the 2015 season, beating the Carolina Panthers 24 – 10 in what was the 50th Super Bowl.

Moving on to the LA Rams, they have 2 Super Bowls to their name so far. Their first was in the 1999 season (XXXIV), where they got the better of the Tennessee Titans, who were beaten 23 – 16. Then came their latest triumph in the 2021 season (LVI), where this time they were able to defeat the Cincinnati Bengals 23 – 20 in what was a very tight game at the SoFi Stadium in the end.

Finally, the Seattle Seahawks have one Super Bowl title to their name so far, coming back in the 2013 season (XLVIII). It was a game that took place at the MetLife Stadium, and it ended with a shock 43 – 8 win for the Seahawks in what was also tied in third place with Super Bowl (XXVII) in the 1993 season as the third largest point differential overall, on 35 overall.

Back to this season’s Super Bowl, the headline act for the halftime show is multi-time Grammy Award winning artist and the ‘King of the Latin Trap’, Bad Bunny.

Bad Bunny will also be coming to the UK this year, with him set to perform in concerts over two nights, from Saturday 27th to Sunday 28th June 2026 as part of his DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS Global Tour at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London.

Excitement is building ahead of the upcoming Super Bowl, and all eyes will be on who secures their place towards the end of January 2026 for one of the biggest sporting occasions on the planet.
