Davis Cup 2024 – France v Switzerland Hospitality Packages – Manchester AO Arena
France and Switzerland are set to go head-to-head at the AO Arena in Manchester as the two nations look to win the 2024 Davis Cup, one of tennis’ most prestigious tournaments.
France is one of the most successful nations in the competition’s history, with no less than ten wins to date, first winning the Davis Cup in 1927, where they were 3-0 winners against Denmark in Copenhagen. Their most recent success in this tournament came exactly 90 years after their inaugural Davis Cup win, when, in 2017, they came up against Belgium. France won the game 3-2. France has also been runners-up nine times as of the time of writing.
As for Switzerland, their one and only Davis Cup win came back in 2014. In this final, they came up against France in Lille, winning 3-1. This was the most recent match between these two nations in the Davis Cup.
In 2003’s Davis Cup, Switzerland were 3-2 winners against France in the Quarter Finals before getting knocked out by Australia in the Semi-Final.
Then in 2004, France was the winner, also in the Quarter Finals. They were able to beat Switzerland 3-2. France reached the Semi-Final, where they lost to eventual winners Spain by a margin of 4-1.
Roger Federer and Stan Wawrinka were the two players who led Switzerland to this victory against France, and the former is joint with Heinz Gunthardt for the record of most years played in the Davis Cup for Switzerland with 15. Federer also has the most wins (52-18) and the most singles wins (40 – 8).
As for France, Jean Borotra holds the record for the most years playing for his country in the Davis Cup, with 17 in all. Pierre Darmon is France’s most successful player in this competition, as he holds the record for most wins (47 – 21) and most singles wins (44 – 17). France competed in the Davis Cup for the very first time in 1904.
