Title chasing Arsenal, led by their Head Coach Mikel Arteta, are set to face Daniel Farke’s newly promoted Leeds United side at the Emirates Stadium in North London in the 2025/26 Premier League season. The action will be competitive and enthralling, whilst the atmosphere at this game is going to be electric.
Victory here for the Gunners would mean that Mikel Arteta and his Gunners side are going to be able to take a step closer to achieving their ultimate ambition of winning this season’s Premier League title, whereas their opponents will be looking to secure themselves another season in the English top flight by avoiding relegation this term.
Arsenal has been led by Head Coach Arteta ever since he was appointed to replace his predecessor Unai Emery on a permanent basis back in October 2019, which followed after a short interim spell in charge by former club favourite Freddie Ljungberg. After a couple of seasons in charge, the Gunners were starting to challenge for the Premier League title once more.
In the 2022/23 Premier League season, Arsenal would go on to earn what was a grand total of 84 points from their 38 top flight matches which was enough for second place, only being runner-up to Champions Manchester City by a margin of just 5 points in the end.
The Gunners were even closer to realising their ambitions the season after in what was their 2023/24 campaign in the league. This time they were even closer to getting their hands on the Premier League title, but again losing out to Manchester City and Pep Guardiola, but the margin between the two clubs was only at 2 points by the end of this season with Arsenal earning 89 points to the Cityzens’ tally of 91.
Finally, in the most recent campaign in the Premier League in the 2024/25 season, the Gunners would go on to finish in second place as the runners-up once again after earning a total of 74 points from their 38 matches.
Moving onto Leeds United, they are led by the aforementioned Daniel Farke, who has been in charge ever since the German was appointed in July 2023 to succeed Sam Allardyce at the Yorkshire Club.
The 2023/24 season was Farke’s first in charge of the club, where they would go on to finish 3rd with 90 points, missing out on automatic promotion by a margin of 6 points before being beaten in the 2024 EFL Championship Play-Off Final to Southampton by a scoreline of 1 – 0 thanks to a winning goal for the Saints from Adam Armstrong early on in the first half with almost half an hour having gone in this game (24’).
Then last season, his second in charge, Daniel Farke led Leeds to automatic promotion to the Premier League after winning the Second Tier’s league title with a grand total of 100 points from their 46 matches, beating Burnley to the summit in the end on goal difference.
Arsenal and Leeds United last met in a competitive fixture back on 1st April 2023 at the Emirates Stadium in the Premier League in what was an emphatic and thoroughly deserved 4 – 1 victory in the heart of North London for Mikel Arteta and the Gunners. It was Gabriel Jesus (35’ – Penalty, 55’), Ben White (47’), and Granit Xhaka (84’) who scored the goals for Arsenal on that day, whilst it was Danish right back Rasmus Kristensen who scored the only goal in the latter part of the second half (76’).
Overall, these two clubs have met a total of 127 times in all competitions over the years, and it is the Gunners with the most wins with 53, whilst Leeds have 41 to their name to date, as of the time of writing. There have also been 33 draws between these two teams in total.
