Unai Emery’s Aston Villa are set to welcome Bournemouth to Villa Park in a huge clash between two sides with aspirations to challenge at the top end of the Premier League season.
Following their Europa League success in 25/26, Villa have returned to the UEFA Champions League and also ended a 30-year drought with Emery becoming an instant Villa legend.
Paired with a 4th place finish in the Premier League, Villa are set for another history-making season under the Spaniard.
The visitors, who are now led by German Head Coach Marco Rose, will be looking to build on a historic season of their own.
The Cherries qualified for the UEFA Europa League for the very first time under former Head Coach Andoni Iraola after finishing 6th in the Premier League.
Bournemouth have been amongst the chasing pack for the European places for the last few seasons, finishing 12th and 9th before recording last season’s 6th place finish.
They have now entered a new era after the appointment of former RB Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund Head Coach Marco Rose.
The German has spent six seasons managing in the Bundesliga before making the move to England and has enjoyed huge success.
Before his move to Germany, Rose was in RB Salzburg’s dugout and managed the Austrian side to two Austrian First Division titles and the Austrian domestic cup between 2017 and 2019.
He is well-known for high-tempo football with plenty of pressing, often in a 4-4-2 shape, which could cause issues for many sides in the Premier League.
During his time in the Bundesliga, Rose lifted the DFB Pokal and the German Super Cup with RB Leipzig, where he boasted a points per game record of 1.85 before departing in 2025.
Before his move to Leipzig, Rose spent time at European giants Borussia Dortmund. Despite only staying at the Signal Iduna Park for one season, he did match his record at Leipzig with a 1.85 PPG record.
Now the German finds himself on the English seaside to take Bournemouth to the Champions League and face Europe’s elite.
Unai Emery, who has also enjoyed a trophy-laden career, has admitted he is desperate to reach the heights of the Premier League and UEFA Champions League after lifting his fifth Europa League last season.
The Spaniard has also lifted the cup with Sevilla and Villarreal throughout his 22-year managerial career.
Following his retirement from playing, Emery was appointed by lower league Spanish Lorca Deportiva CF before making the move to second division side UD Almeria.
Emery achieved promotion with Almeria, their first since 1980, which earned him a huge move to Spanish giants Valencia.

Following 12 seasons throughout the Spanish pyramid, Emery agreed to join Paris Saint-Germain. PSG had dominated French football for years before Emery’s arrival, and the Spaniard was expected to easily waltz towards the league title and challenge to lift the Champions League.
Unfortunately, this wasn’t quite how it worked out. In his first season, the Parisians finished runners-up to Kylian Mbappe’s AS Monaco by eight points before crashing out of the Champions League in the round of 16 against Barcelona after losing 6-1 in the second leg at the Nou Camp.
Following a brief spell with Arsenal and Villarreal, Emery now finds himself in the West Midlands managing Aston Villa.
After Steven Gerrard was dismissed by Villa, Emery became the clear frontrunner from the off, and it’s worked out superbly.
The club has now qualified for European competition for four consecutive years and lifted the Europa League after beating Freiburg in the final at Besiktas Park.
