Chelsea, led by Head Coach Liam Rosenior, are set to come face to face with Sean Dyche’s Nottingham Forest side at the iconic and historic Stamford Bridge, which is located in the heart of West London, during the 2025/26 Premier League season.

A win for the home side here would most certainly see the Blues take what would be a significant step closer to realising their ambitions to qualify for the highly prestigious UEFA Champions League for what would be the second time in as many seasons.

During a professional playing career that spanned 16 years, the clubs that Rosenior represented includes, but is not limited to, the likes of Fulham (2003 – 2007), Reading (2007 – 2010), Hull City (2010 – 2015), and Brighton (2015 – 2018).

Moving on to his career in senior management, Rosenior first took charge of Derby as an interim Head Coach, doing so for a few months between June and September 2022, which was between the departure of Wayne Rooney, and the arrival of his permanent successor, Paul Warne.

His first permanent appointment as Head Coach came with his former club Hull City back in November 2022. And, by the end of the 2022/23 season, he had taken a side threatened by relegation under Shota Arveladze to a side that comfortably secured survival in 15th place with as many as 58 points to their name from 46 games.

Then, despite signing a new contract during the 2023/24 season, where Rosenior’s Tigers narrowly missed out on the play-offs in 7th place, he was dismissed.

Strasbourg had clearly taken notice of his positive impact at Hull, with the French Ligue 1 Club appointing him just months later in July 2024. The 2024/25 campaign was his only full season in charge, and by the end of it, his side qualified successfully for the UEFA Conference League, and only missing out on UEFA Europa League football on goal difference, losing out on the final spot to Lyon overall.

Moving on to Nottingham Forest, on Tuesday 21st October 2025, Sean Dyche replaced their Australian Head Coach, Ange Postecoglou, who had been in charge since he took over the club following the departure of Portuguese counterpart Nuno Espirito Santo back on 9th September 2025.

Last season, 2024/25 was Nuno’s first and only full season in charge, and it was an incredible campaign for him and all associated with the club, with them amongst the clubs battling for UEFA Champions League football before eventually missing out, but still managing to successfully qualify for European Football.

This is thanks to a 7^th place finish after they had earned a total of 65 points. They were only 1 point adrift of qualification for the highly coveted and prestigious UEFA Champions League places in the end.

A difficult start to the 2025/26 season for Forest saw them replace Nuno with Ange Postecoglou, who himself was replaced by former Burnley and Everton boss Sean Dyche.

Dyche is a very experienced Head Coach, who is most famous for his spectacular achievements with Burnley, with him having not only guiding the Clarets to promotion twice to the Premier League, but he also led them to qualification for the UEFA Europa League’s Second Qualifying Round thanks to a 7th place finish in the 2017/18 season.

The last time that these two clubs went face to face competitively in all competitions was in the Premier League back on Saturday 18th October 2025. It was an emphatic, ruthless, and well deserved 3 – 0 victory away from home at the City Ground for Chelsea, with them scoring their goals through the likes of Josh Acheampong (49′), Pedro Neto (52′), and finally Reece James in the dying embers of the game in the second half (87′).

It was also a special occasion for James, with this game being his 200th senior appearance for the club.

Overall, Chelsea and Nottingham Forest have met competitively in all competitions on no less than 101 occasions, and it is the Blues who do have the superior record of no less than 43 victories, with Forest having 27 wins for themselves in this fixture over the years to date. There have also been 31 draws to date between these two teams so far, as of the time of writing.
