Chelsea, led by their Italian Head Coach Enzo Maresca, take on Vitor Pereira’s Wolves side at the iconic and historic Stamford Bridge in the heart of West London during the 2025/26 Premier League season.
A victory here against Wolverhampton Wanderers would not only see them take what would be a vital three points against their West Midlands counterparts, but it would also see them take a crucial step closer to realising their ambition for this season, which is to secure another season in the highly prestigious UEFA Champions League through their performance in the Premier League this season.
Enzo Maresca is, of course, the current Head Coach of Chelsea Football Club, and he has been in charge of the club from West London ever since he officially became the successor to Mauricio Pochettino at the Stamford Bridge club back on 1st July 2024. This was just a few months ahead of the start of last season (2024/25).
So, therefore, the 2024/25 campaign was Maresca’s first full season in charge of the Blues, and it was an immensely successful one for him and his team both domestically and, of course, in Europe. Starting with the Premier League, the Italian Head Coach led his team to a very credible 4th place finish after they earned 69 points in total from their 38 games in the English Top Flight, which was indeed enough to qualify for the highly prestigious UEFA Champions League.
As for their European campaign, Chelsea got through all the way to the 2025 UEFA Conference League Final where they would come face to face with La Liga side Real Betis in Poland. It was to be an utterly ruthless display from the Blues in the end against their Spanish counterparts, ultimately beating them 4–1.
The goals in this game for Maresca’s team came through the likes of Enzo Fernandez (65’), Nicolas Jackson (70’), Jadon Sancho (83’), and Moises Caicedo, with the midfielder scoring his goal early on in the second half stoppage time (90+1’).
Moving on to Wolves, their Portuguese Head Coach Vitor Pereira has been in charge of the club ever since he took charge of the West Midlands outfit back on Thursday, 19th December 2024, where he succeeded Gary O’Neil in the Molineux hot seat.
The 2024/25 campaign was Vitor’s first full season in charge of the club, and he managed to lead his team away from the danger of relegation down to the Championship to eventually finish in 16th place overall in the end after having earned a total of 42 points from their 38 games in the top flight in the end, and with a gap of 17 points between themselves and the relegation zone in the end.
The last time that these two clubs met in a competitive fixture in all competitions was in the Premier League back on Monday 20th January 2025, where, at the famous Stamford Bridge, Chelsea won comfortably 3 – 1 in West London thanks to the goals from Tosin Adarabioyo (24’), Marc Cucurella (60’), and finally Noni Madueke just a few moments later (65’).
Overall, Chelsea and Wolves have met competitively in all competitions on no less than 119 occasions, and it is the Blues who do have the superior record of 46 victories so far, whilst their West Midlands counterparts Wolves have 43 triumphs to their name. There have also been 30 draws between these two teams so far, as of the time of writing.
