Following his huge success in Germany, Alonso, who made 158 appearances for Real Madrid, returned to the Spanish capital to manage the Madridistas.

Managing the likes of Kylian Mbappe, Jude Bellingham and Vinicius Junior, Alonso gained a lot of valuable experience which he’ll be able to bring to Stamford Bridge.

Despite winning the La Liga manager of the season in his first month in charge, Alonso struggled to make an impact in Madrid, and he was relieved of his duties in January, 2026.

After five months out of management, Alonso made the move to West London, and he brings a huge amount of excitement with him following his successful managerial career to date.

Despite it not being Chelsea’s greatest season last year, Blues supporters were treated to some fantastic performances from Joao Pedro, Enzo Fernandez and Jorrel Hato whilst also enjoying the breakout season from Brazilian youngster Estavao.
