Liverpool, led by their Dutch Head Coach Arne Slot, are set to take on FA Cup holders Crystal Palace, led by their Austrian Head Coach Oliver Glasner, at the historic and iconic Anfield during the 2025/26 Premier League season. This game is taking place towards the end of the campaign, and the Reds will be hoping that a victory here could give their chances of winning the title once again a strong boost going into the final few games of the campaign.
Consistency and form have been at the heart of Liverpool’s fortunes over recent years, and they know that momentum is also key should they want to make history and become the side with the most top flight English titles in the entire history of the English Football League with no less than 21, with them now holding the joint record of 20 with their arch rivals Manchester United at present.
Arne Slot is the incumbent Head Coach of Liverpool Football Club, and he is in his second full season in charge in the 2025/26 campaign. His appointment came following the departure of club legend Jurgen Klopp shortly following the conclusion of the 2023/24 season, with the Dutchman’s tenure officially getting underway at the Merseyside-based club all the way back on 1st June 2024.
Therefore, the 2024/25 season was his first full term in charge of his team, and he did go on to bring some incredible success to Liverpool once the season had officially concluded. No less than 84 points were accumulated by the Reds overall, which was enough for them to get their hands on their 2nd ever Premier League title, which also saw them equal the record that they now jointly hold with their arch rivals Manchester United of 20 titles each, the most of any other English outfit. They finished no less than 10 points clear of Arsenal in second place in the end.
There were a great number of crucial games last season that decided that it was Liverpool who would win the title. The most crucial result came towards the end of the season against Tottenham at Anfield, where the hosts put together a simply superb performance that officially sealed the win and the title for the Anfield club after securing what was an emphatic and thoroughly deserved 5–1 triumph in the end.
The goals in that game were scored by the likes of Luis Diaz (16’), Alexis Mac Allister (24’), Cody Gakpo (34’), and Mohamed Salah (63’), additionally, there was also an own goal from Spurs defender Destiny Udogie (69’).
Moving on to Crystal Palace, their Austrian Head Coach, Oliver Glasner, officially took charge of the South London Club to succeed the previous Eagles boss, Roy Hodgson, on 19th February 2024, with the 2024/25 campaign being his first in charge.
Glasner’s maiden season in charge of Palace was very successful, with him leading his side to the club’s first ever major trophy when they were able to beat Manchester City 1 – 0 in the 2025 FA Cup Final thanks to a historic winning goal from Eberechi Eze in the early stages of the first half with almost twenty minutes having gone in the game (16’).
Meanwhile, in the Premier League, the Eagles finished the 2024/25 season in 12th place, earning a total of 53 points from their 38 matches in the top flight.
The last time that these two clubs met in a competitive game was a 1 – 1 draw on 25th May 2025, with Mohamed Salah (84’) and Ismaila Sarr (9’) scoring for both of their respective clubs. Liverpool did beat Palace at Selhurst Park 1 – 0 early on in that campaign on 5th October 2024, which was thanks to a winning goal from Diogo Jota within the first ten minutes (9’).
Overall, Liverpool and Crystal Palace have met in competitive fixtures in all competitions a grand total of 66 times, with the Reds currently holding the superior record of 37 victories compared to Palace’s 15, as of the time of writing. As for draws, there have been 14 between these two teams so far.
