The two giants of the Premier League will look to enhance their respective title credentials with a win at the Etihad Stadium.
Pep Guardiola became Manchester City Head Coach on 1st February 2016, becoming Manuel Pellegrini’s permanent successor at the club. By the end of his first season (2016/17) with the Cityzens, Guardiola’s side finished 3rd with 78 points, qualifying for the Champions League. Guardiola’s City side were in fine form once again last term (2022/23), winning a third consecutive Premier League title after accumulating 89 points from their 38 league matches. They also finished 5 points ahead of Arsenal in 2nd place. As a team, Manchester City were the top goal scorers in the division last season with 94 goals in all.
Erling Haaland, signed from Borussia Dortmund for Manchester City in the summer transfer window, going on to win the Premier League’s golden boot with an outstanding tally of 36 goals. It was Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane who was the Norwegian forward’s closest challenger, scoring 30 goals himself. Phil Foden and Julián Álvarez got 11 and 9 goals respectively.
The previously mentioned Champions League win formed part of a treble with City also winning the FA Cup and of course the Premier League title.
Mikel Arteta became Unai Emery’s permanent successor at Arsenal on 20th December 2019. During his time at the club, the Gunners have finished 8th twice and then 5th in the 2021/22 season. They did find themselves at the summit of the Premier League table last term, but they eventually lost out to City. Arteta’s Arsenal had to settle for 2nd place with 84 points to their name.
Arsenal have won the FA Cup for the 14 time (2019/20) during the Spaniard’s time in charge, whilst also winning the FA Community Shield in 2020.
Gabriel Martinelli and Martin Ødegaard were the Gunners’ joint top goal scorers last season with 15 each. Bukayo Saka and ex-City forward Gabriel Jesus were close behind with 14 and 11 goals in the Premier League respectively.
Manchester City and Arsenal met for the first time competitively in a league match on 11th November 1893. Overall, they have met on 208 occasion with Arsenal having the superior record of 98 wins in comparison to the Cityzens’ 65. There have been 45 draws in this fixture as of the time of writing.
The most recent match to take place between these two teams was on 26th April 2023 where Manchester City secured an emphatic 4-1 Premier League win against Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium. Prices for Man City season tickets vary by stand. The South Stand prices start from £180 Level 3 for Under 18’s. Level 3 pricing for 18-21-year-olds starts from £255 and £383 for a level 3 Adult season ticket. An Adult will pay between £615 and £980 depending on Level seating. The Colin Bell Stand ranges between £580 – £1,030 depending on Level seating. Man City currently have an extensive waiting list for their season tickets, with around 120,000 sitting on the waiting list. However, you can still see Man City play at Etihad with one of our Man City Matchday Hospitality packages.
