Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City are set to take on a Brentford side that is led by their Irish Head Coach Keith Andrews at the iconic Etihad Stadium during the 2025/26 Premier League season.
A win for the Cityzens against their West London counterparts would be a very valuable three points for the team, and it would be a win that would certainly take them a step closer to realising their ambitions for this season, which is to reclaim the title in what would be a 7th Premier League triumph for them since Pep took over.
Talking of Pep Guardiola, he is of course the incumbent Head Coach of Manchester City Football Club, which is a very prestigious post that he has held ever since his tenure began at the club ahead of the 2016/17 season. He succeeded Manuel Pellegrini at the club, who took charge of what remained of the 2015/16 campaign following the announcement of Guardiola’s imminent arrival back on Monday 1st February 2016.
The most recent full season in charge of City for Guardiola as Head Coach was of course the 2024/25 campaign, which saw him and his side trying to retain the title once more after beginning it as the reigning Champions. However, unfortunately for them, they lost out on the title to Liverpool, and with Arsenal finishing in second place, they had to settle for what was a 3rd place finish after they had earned a grand total of no less than 71 points from their 38 top flight games overall. They did still qualify successfully for the 2025/26 edition of the UEFA Champions League.
During his career with Manchester City as the club’s Head Coach, Pep Guardiola has led them to as many as 18 trophies so far. This includes 6 Premier League titles (2017/18, 2018/19, 2020/21, 2021/22/ 2022/23 & 2023/24), 2 FA Cups (2018/19 & 2022/23), 4 Carabao Cup titles (2017/18, 2018/19, 2019/20 & 2020/21), 3 FA Community Shield titles (2018, 2019 & 2024), 1 UEFA Champions League title (2022/23), 1 UEFA Super Cup title (2023), and finally 1 FIFA Club World Cup (2023).
Moving on to Brentford, their Irish Head Coach Keith Andrews has been in charge since he was appointed back on Friday 27th June 2025. His Danish predecessor Thomas Frank had left the Bees to join their fellow London based Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur a short time before that. Andrews’ previous role was at the club as their set piece coach.
Last season (2024/25) was spent under the stewardship of the club’s now former Head Coach Thomas Frank, with the Dane leading his side to what was a very creditable 10th place finish with a total of 56 points. They were in the race for European Football, which would have been a first for the club, but the Bees did eventually go on to finish 9 points adrift of the top seven, which are the European places.
The last time that these two clubs faced each other competitively in all competitions was in the Premier League back on Tuesday 14th January 2025 at the Gtech Community Stadium in what was a competitive 2 – 2 draw in West London. Phil Foden got a brace as he scored both of City’s goals towards the end of the second half (66’, 78’), whilst the hosts Brentford were able to score their two goals thanks to the likes of Yoane Wissa (83’) and Christian Norgaard (90+2’).
Overall, Manchester City and Brentford have met competitively in all competitions on no less than 21 occasions, and it is City with the most victories so far in this fixture with as many as 12, whilst the Bees have 7 in total against the Cityzens. There have also been just 2 draws between these two teams to date, as of the time of writing.
