Manchester City are to come face to face with Brentford at the Etihad Stadium in the 2023/24 Premier League season, where three points for either side would aid them in the pursuit of their respective targets for the season. City will be targeting their fourth league title in the last four seasons, whilst the Bees will be looking to go one better a secure European football this season.
In the 2022/23 season, Pep Guardiola’s side were the dominant force in the Premier League going on to win their battle with Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal with the Cityzens finding themselves at the summit of the Premier League table at the end of the season with a 5 point gap separating themselves and the Gunners. City won 28 of their 38 matches on their way to accumulating a total of 89 points in their successful title bid.
Guardiola’s City team were the best at scoring goals last term with a total of 94 goals being scored in all, with Arsenal next best with 88. Erling Haaland scored 36 of the Cityzens’ total Premier League goals last season, becoming the team and league’s leading goal scorer, earning the golden boot. Phil Foden came second with 11, whilst Julián Álvarez and Ilkay Gündogan got 9 and 8 goals respectively.
Pep Guardiola was named as City Head Coach on 1st February 2016, succeeding Manuel Pellegrini. The ex-Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss has since carried on his habit of winning trophies during his tenure at Manchester City. Following Dean Smith’s departure for Aston Villa on 16th October 2018, Thomas Frank was named as his successor and by the end of the 2018/19 season, Brentford finished 11th in the Championship. The 2019/20 season saw Frank’s Bees come within touching distance of promotion to the Premier League, only to lose out in the play-off final, losing 2-1 to Fulham at Wembley.
Finally, in the 2020/21 season, Brentford finally secured their place in the Premier League following a 2-0 win against Swansea City at Wembley. In their first season back in the top flight (2021/22), Frank’s Bees managed to finish 13th, and a comfortable 11 points ahead of the bottom three. Last term, Brentford were consistently challenging for European Football, only having to settle for 9th place with 59 points following results on the final day of the 2022/23 Premier League season.
Ivan Toney was Brentford’s leading goal scorer in the Premier League last season with 20 goals to his name in all. Bryan Mbeumo came 2nd with 9 goals whilst Yoane Wissa and Denmark’s Mathias Jensen got 7 and 5 goals respectively.
Manchester City and Brentford first played against each other on 23rd January 1932 when City won an FA Cup 4th Round tie 6-1 at Maine Road. Overall, the two clubs have played against each other 17 times over the years, and it is City with the superior record of 9 wins in comparison to the Bees’ 7. There has been just 1 draw in matches between these two clubs as of the time of writing.

Prices for Man City season tickets vary by stand. The South Stand prices start from £180 Level 3 for Under 18’s. Level 3 pricing for 18-21-year-olds starts from £255 and £383 for a level 3 Adult season ticket. An Adult will pay between £615 and £980 depending on Level seating. The Colin Bell Stand ranges between £580 – £1,030 depending on Level seating. Man City currently have an extensive waiting list for their season tickets, with around 120,000 sitting on the waiting list. However, you can still see Man City play at Etihad with one of our Man City Matchday Hospitality packages.
