King George Diamond Day is often regarded as one of Europe’s midsummer middle-distance showpieces, attracting the finest horses from across the continent for this historic meeting.

Built for King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes in 1951, the race quickly became the most prestigious middle-distance event, establishing itself as the second richest race in the British racing calendar.
When attending one of Ascot’s greatest meetings, look forward to seeing previous crowned winners Nijinsky, Mill Reef, Brigadier Gerard, Shergar, Nashwan, Galileo and three-time winner Enable.

The action on King George Diamond Day in 2024 was enthralling, and there was a surprise international winner of the most recent renewal of the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes. Goliath, trained in France, was victorious, ridden by Belgian Jockey Christophe Soumillon, and by the end of the race the gap between the winner and runner-up Bluestocking stood at two and a quarter lengths. Pre-race favourite Auguste Rodin, ridden by Ryan Moore, had to settle for a 5th place finish in the end.
