Adults
Guests are required to dress for a smart summer occasion.
Gentlemen must wear a jacket, collared shirt and tie. Millinery is
not compulsory, but hats and headpieces are encouraged.
Examples of acceptable attire include but are not limited to:
• A dress, suit or jumpsuit with a hat or headpiece
• Tailored trousers with a jacket, collared shirt and tie.
Children
Children aged 17 and under should adhere to the Dress Code,
however this does not apply to very young children.
Fancy Dress
Fancy dress, novelty attire and sportswear are not permitted at
Ascot Racecourse.
Hot Weather Provision
During exceptionally hot weather, the Dress Code may be
relaxed. However, this is a discretionary decision which will only
be made and communicated at the venue on the day.
King George Day Hospitality 2027
The King George Day at Ascot would rightly be described as one of Europe’s leading midsummer middle-distance racing occasions, attracting some of the finest horses from Britain, Ireland and beyond.
At the heart of the fixture is the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes, one of the most prestigious races in the Flat racing calendar. First run in 1951, the race has built a legendary roll of honour featuring some of the greatest names in racing history, with Supreme Court claiming victory in the inaugural renewal under jockey Charlie Elliott.
Over the years, the race has been won by many of the sport’s greatest jockeys. Lester Piggott and Frankie Dettori currently share the record for the most victories in the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes, with seven wins apiece. Piggott’s successes came aboard Meadow Court (1965), Aunt Edith (1966), Park Top (1969), Nijinsky (1970), Dahlia (1974), The Minstrel (1977) and Teenoso (1984). Dettori’s seven victories came with Lammtarra (1995), Swain (1998), Daylami (1999), Doyen (2004) and the legendary Enable (2017, 2019 and 2020), who remains the only horse to have won the race three times.
The most recent renewals have continued to add to the race’s outstanding history. In 2026, Andrew Balding’s Kalpana delivered a memorable performance to claim victory, defeating reigning champion Calandagan in the first £2 million running of the contest. Her success added another international chapter to the King George story and underlined the quality of competition attracted by the race each summer.
The 2027 King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes will once again bring together elite middle-distance horses for a thrilling afternoon of racing at Ascot Racecourse. Taking place on Saturday 24th July 2027, the fixture promises another unforgettable edition of one of Britain’s biggest Flat racing highlights.
