The Cheltenham Festival is the pinnacle of National Hunt Racing and takes place across four magnificent days in the shadow of Cleeve Hill. Below we have given you a guide to one of The Festivals most popular days, the dress code at Cheltenham and where to stay during the Cheltenham Festival.
Cheltenham Festival Gold Cup Day
This is one of the biggest days in racing. The Cheltenham Festival Gold Cup Day is chock full of races that are highlights for everyone. The opening race, The Triumph Hurdle, is the biggest in the season for juveniles. This should make Gold Cup Day truly tempting. The Cheltenham Festival’s final day also includes The Vincent O’Brien County Hurdle, Martin Pipe Hurdle and The Grand Annual Chase.
All this builds up to the main event of the week – The Magners Cheltenham Gold Cup. A must-see race for 2022. A true test of endurance and ability will put some of the greatest horse racing legends to the test. Who will win the first Magners Cheltenham Gold Cup in 2022?

Directions
By Road
Customers are advised to follow the yellow, temporary signs when entering Cheltenham and the local area and not the brown permanent signs.
Driving from London to Cheltenham takes around 2 hrs and an hour from Birmingham and Bristol.
Directions from the M5 heading north:
Exit the M5 at Junction 11:
Follow the A40 towards Cheltenham. At the first roundabout (Arle Court) take the third exit. At the second roundabout take the first exit following signs to Cheltenham Racecourse (Princess Elizabeth Way). Continue to follow signs for Bishops Cleeve and Park & Ride. At the PC World/McDonalds roundabout, take the second exit towards Bishops Cleeve.
Follow the below directions.
Directions from the M5 heading south:
Exit the M5 at Junction 10.
Follow the A4019 towards Cheltenham.
Sainsbury’s, Homebase, Broughton’s and Cotswold BMW are on your left.
At the McDonalds roundabout, turn left heading towards Bishops Cleeve.
At the double roundabout head straight across.
Follow the below directions
Take the second turning on the right (Swindon Lane) over the level crossing.
Head straight across the next two roundabouts.
At the third roundabout take the second exit to the racecourse.
Follow the access road to the racecourse passing The Centaur on your right.
At the top of the hill turn right into the members car park (reserved spaces). Please park in the members car park and follow signs for the Hall of Fame, report to the conference and events office or the racecourse reception.
Pick up and Drop off
For The Festival, the pick up and drop off area can be found at the bottom of the West Car Park. Please follow the signage. This is about a 5 minute walk from the gates.
By Rail
Trains from London to Cheltenham Spa generally run hourly and take about two hours. Trains from Birmingham generally run every half an hour and take about 35 minutes. From Bristol, trains leave every hour and take about 35 minutes. It is a 10 minute tax ride from the station
By Bus
From Cheltenham
Stagecoach service D runs every 10 minutes during the day and between 10 minutes and every hour on Monday to Saturday evenings. The service runs hourly on Sundays.
Service 527 also provides a regular service from Cheltenham Centre to Bishops Cleeve and Gotherington via the Racecourse Roundabout.
At The Festival and The Open a shuttle bus service will be operating, picking up at Cheltenham Spa Railway Station and outside WH Smith in the centre of town before dropping off at the Racecourse. Return buses pick up from the Racecourse with stops at Pittville Street and then the Station.

My family and friends surprised me by booking out the Private Grandstand Box for my 40th birthday and I must say it was an absolutely incredible day. We had our own private balcony to witness the racing action and the food was simply superb.
