Aston Villa complete loan signing of Alejandro Garnacho from Chelsea

Aston Villa have completed the signing of Argentina international Alejandro Garnacho from Chelsea on a season-long loan, with the deal expected to become permanent next summer if agreed conditions are met.

The 22-year-old becomes the latest addition to Unai Emery’s squad after Villa and Chelsea reached an agreement following negotiations that also saw Morgan Rogers complete his British-record £117 million move to Stamford Bridge.

Garnacho arrives at Villa Park less than a year after joining Chelsea from Manchester United. The winger made 43 appearances in all competitions during the 2025/26 campaign, scoring eight goals after his £40 million switch from Old Trafford.

A product of Manchester United’s academy, Garnacho established himself as one of the Premier League’s brightest young attacking talents, making 144 first-team appearances before his move to Chelsea in the summer of 2025.

Comfortable playing on either wing or through the middle, the Argentine international brings pace, creativity and versatility to Emery’s attacking options. He has also earned eight senior caps for Argentina and claimed the 2024 FIFA Puskás Award for his spectacular overhead volley against Everton.

Villa boss Emery believes Garnacho’s arrival is another important step in strengthening his squad ahead of the new campaign.

“We are delighted with Alejandro,” Emery said. “He is so talented, young and he showed us his wish to help our project. We are really happy.”

Garnacho had been expected to leave Chelsea this summer after being allowed to explore opportunities away from Stamford Bridge, and Villa have now secured the services of one of the Premier League’s most highly rated young forwards.

The move gives Garnacho the opportunity for regular first-team football under Emery, while Villa add another exciting attacking option as they prepare for the 2026/27 season. Should the agreed performance criteria be met, the loan deal will automatically become a permanent transfer next summer.
