Igor Tudor Appointed by Spurs

Igor Tudor

Following the departure of Thomas Frank, ex-Juventus and Marseille boss Igor Tudor has been appointed by Spurs as his successor, with the Croatian joining on a contract until the end of the season.

Following Thomas Frank’s departure, Spurs fans from across the country and the world were eagerly awaiting to see who was going to succeed the Dane in the dugout at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in North London. They did not have to wait long, as the club had announced the appointment of former Juventus and Marseille boss Igor Tudor as the new Head Coach.

Tudor joins on an initial contract until the conclusion of the current 2025/26 Premier League season, and his remit will be to finish as high as possible in the table whilst also seeking to build momentum to progress as far as possible in the UEFA Champions League this term.

Before beginning his coaching career, Igor Tudor had a playing career spanning 13 years from 1995 to his retirement in 2008, during which he played for Hajduk Split and Italian giants Juventus. His spells with Hajduk Split were from 1995 to 1998 and from 2007 to 2008, whilst his days with the Old Lady saw him play in Italy for 9 years from 1998 to 2007. He also had loan spells with Croatian side Trogir in 1996, and with Italian side Siena from 2005 to 2006.

He won silverware during his playing days, all with Juventus. He won 2 Serie A titles (2001/02 & 2002/03), 1 Serie B title (2006/07), and 1 UEFA Intertoto Cup (1999), whilst also reaching two Coppa Italian Finals (2001/02 & 2003/04) and 1 UEFA Champions League Final (2002/03), losing the latter to AC Milan on penalties.

He also came third in the FIFA World Cup with Croatia in 1998, whilst being named Croatian Footballer of the Year in 2001.

As for his management career, he has taken charge of some iconic clubs. One such club is French giants Marseille, with whom he spent the 2022/23 season, during which he led Les Olympiens to a very creditable third-place finish with 73 points from their 38 games – they won 22, drew 7, and lost 9. This saw them secure UEFA Champions League football, and they finished only behind runners-up Lens and Champions PSG, with 84 and 85 points respectively.

Then, in March 2024, he joined Lazio partway through the 2023/24 campaign, leading them to a positive end to the season as the Italian side qualified for the UEFA Europa League the following campaign.

Lastly, Juventus was his final club before joining Tottenham, taking charge of the Old Lady in March 2025. He led them to a 4th-place finish, accumulating 70 points from 38 matches, leaving a four-point gap between them and 3rd-place Atalanta and a one-point gap between them and Roma in 5th place.

Spurs fans eagerly await the impact made by Igor Tudor over the course of his tenure, with the Lilywhites looking to not only finish as high as possible in the Premier League but also to progress as far as possible in the UEFA Champions League this season.

On his appointment by Spurs, new Tottenham boss Igor Tudor had this to say (via Tottenham Hotspur’s Official Website): “It is an honour to join this Club at an important moment.

“I understand the responsibility I have been handed, and my focus is clear. To bring greater consistency to our performances and compete with conviction in every match.

“There is strong quality in this playing squad, and my job is to organise it, energise it and improve our results quickly.”

Tudor’s first game in charge is set to be the latest North London Derby against Arsenal, which is set to be played at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday, 22nd February 2026, with kick-off scheduled for 16:30.

This is followed by another London Derby, this time away from home at Craven Cottage against Fulham, led by Marco Silva (Sunday 1st March 2026, 14:00 KO), before then returning home to face Oliver Glasner’s Crystal Palace in the heart of North London on Thursday 5th March 2026 in what is a 20:00 kick-off in the evening.
