Liverpool see £50m Yankuba Minteh bid rejected by Brighton
The 22-year-old Gambia international has emerged as another option for the Reds as they look to strengthen their wide attacking positions following Mohamed Salah’s departure.
Minteh joined Brighton from Newcastle United for £30m in 2024 and has since made 73 appearances for the Seagulls, scoring 10 goals and providing nine assists.
Primarily deployed on the right wing, the left-footed forward has attracted attention with his pace and direct style of play.
However, Liverpool’s interest comes while Minteh is sidelined with a leg injury. He sustained the problem during Brighton’s friendly against Roma earlier this month and is currently recovering.
Despite Brighton rejecting the opening £50m proposal, Liverpool remain active in their search for another wide player.
The Reds have already brought in Victor Munoz this summer in a £34m deal from Osasuna, with the versatile forward capable of operating either on the wing or through the middle.
Liverpool are also continuing to explore a deal for Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola.
The 23-year-old France international remains a priority target and is understood to be open to a move to Anfield, but there remains a significant gap between the two clubs’ valuations.
PSG are reportedly looking for a fee in the region of £145m for Barcola, while Liverpool would prefer to reach an agreement closer to £100m.
Minteh therefore represents another potential route for Liverpool as they assess their options in the final stages of the transfer window.
The Brighton winger has Premier League experience and, at 22, would also offer Liverpool the opportunity to add a younger attacking option to their squad.
Brighton’s rejection means Liverpool would need to return with an improved proposal if they want to take the Minteh deal further.
