Roberto De Zerbi Joins Tottenham Hotspur as Head Coach

Following the departure of Igor Tudor, Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed the appointment of Roberto De Zerbi as Head Coach, with the Italian set to take charge ahead of the final seven Premier League fixtures of the 2025/26 season.

De Zerbi has signed a long-term contract and will take on Sunderland at the Stadium of Light in his first game in charge.

De Zerbi, formerly of Brighton & Hove Albion and Olympique de Marseille, (via Tottenham Hotspur’s Official Website) said:

“In all my discussions with the Club’s leadership, their ambition for the future has been clear – to build a team capable of reaching great achievements, and to do that playing a style of football that excites and inspires our supporters. “Our short-term priority is to climb the Premier League table, which will be the complete focus until the final whistle of the last game of the season. I’m looking forward to getting out on the training pitch and working with these players to achieve that.”

De Zerbi arrives in North London with a reputation for playing progressive, possession-based football and developing young players. He first made his name in the Premier League with Brighton & Hove Albion, guiding the club to its highest ever league finish of sixth place and historic qualification for the UEFA Europa League. His tenure at Brighton was widely regarded as one of the most successful periods in the club’s top-flight history.

After leaving Brighton in 2024, De Zerbi moved to France to manage Olympique de Marseille. During the 2024/25 Ligue 1 campaign, he led the club to a second-place finish, securing a UEFA Champions League place. This was one of Marseille’s strongest league campaigns in recent years and further showcased De Zerbi’s ability to implement a clear style of football while achieving results.
