Super Bowl LX: Teams Confirmed

The much anticipated 60th Super Bowl is on the horizon, and the two teams taking part have been confirmed.

The showpiece occasion of the NFL season is almost upon us. The 60th Super Bowl, Super Bowl LX is taking place at the famous Levi’s Stadium located in Santa Clara in the state of California, and will be played on Sunday, 8th February 2026. The game will kick off at 23:30 (UK Time).

Following the conclusion of the action on Sunday night, the New England Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks are going to be going head to head to get their hands on the most prestigious prize in the sport in just over a week’s time. Both sides have previously emerged victorious in the Super Bowl during the illustrious histories of both franchises.

Starting with the Patriots, they have won the Super Bowl on no less than 6 occasions, doing so in 2001 (XXXVI), 2003 (XXXVIII), 2004 (XXXIX), 2014 (XLIX), 2016 (LI), and most recently in 2018 (LIII), when they were able to beat the Los Angeles Rams 13 – 3 at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia. They have the joint-most Super Bowl triumphs alongside the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Moving on to the Seahawks, they have won the Super Bowl just once so far in their history, as of the time of writing. This was back in 2013 (XLVIII), when they were able to emerge as emphatic and well-deserved 43 – 8 victory against the Denver Broncos in a game that took place at the MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, located in the American state of New Jersey.

In years gone by, the New England Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks have actually come face to face in the Super Bowl before. This was back on 1st February 2015 in the Super Bowl XLIX at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Arizona, where it was the Patriots who came away as competitive 28 – 24 winners, denying the Seahawks a second consecutive triumph. 2026 will see them meet in the Super Bowl for what will be just the second time.

To secure their place in the 60th Super Bowl this year, both the Patriots and the Seahawks faced tough battles in the NFL Conference Championships. The former will be looking to win their seventh Super Bowl, which would be the first won without the legendary Tom Brady and Bill Belichick.

Starting with the New England Patriots, they came up against three-time Super Bowl winners, the Denver Broncos, at the Empower Field at Mile High in Denver, Colorado, with the Patriots emerging as 10 – 7 winners in the end.

The only touchdown of the game actually came from the Denver Broncos in the first quarter when Jarret Stidham found Courtland Sutton. Overall, New England ended up restricting their opponents to only 32 yards in total in the second half.

Maye kept a drive going for New England for over nine minutes, which led to a decisive score from Patriots kicker Andy Borregales in the fourth and final quarter.

Wil Lutz of the Broncos then missed a 45-yard field goal, and then it got even worse for Denver when an effort from Stidham was intercepted effectively by Patriots cornerback Christian Gonzalez. This was with just two minutes left to go in the game.

Not only are the New England Patriots the first team to have successfully reached the Super Bowl after having suffered as many as 13 losses all season, but Head Coach Michael Vrabel also became the first man to become an NFL Champion as a player and as a Head Coach with the same team.

Vrabel won the Super Bowl three times as a linebacker in his playing days, with him being part of triumphs back in 2002 (XXXVI), 2004 (XXXVIII), and in 2005 (XXXIX).

The second Conference Championships Final was between the Seattle Seahawks and the LA Rams, with the game taking place at Lumen Field in Seattle in the state of Washington on Sunday. In the end, it was a 27 – 31 triumph for the aforementioned Seattle Seahawks in front of a capacity crowd.

The game itself saw some excellent performances, including both Seahawks Quarterback Sam Darnold and Rams Quarterback Matt Stafford, both throwing as many as three touchdown passes each, with the efforts of the former helping to guide his team to victory in the end.

The game began with Kenneth Walker scoring the opening touchdown of the contest for the Seahawks, only for Kyren Williams to give the LA Rams the 13 – 10 lead. The Seahawks did manage to take a 17 – 13 lead into halftime thanks to Jaxon Smith-Njigba, taking advantage of what was some poor game management from the Rams.

The Rams’ Davante Adams and Puka Nacua both scored, either side of Cooper Kupp, who also got himself on the scoresheet. Seattle then led 31 – 27 heading into the final period.

The Seahawks then denied Colby Parkinson’s efforts to score for the LA Rams, and his side did get the ball back with 25 seconds remaining in the fourth and final quarter, but they were unable to deny victory for the Seattle Seahawks, led by Head Coach Mike Macdonald. Their British defensive co-ordinator, Aden Durde, also proved vital for Seattle’s win.

Bad Bunny is set to headline the halftime show at the 60th Super Bowl. Not only that, he is coming to the UK this year as part of his DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS Global Tour, with him performing at the iconic Tottenham Hotspur Stadium across two dates, from Saturday 27th June to Sunday 28th June 2026 in the heart of North London.

Excitement is building ahead of the upcoming Super Bowl, and all eyes will be on who lifts this prestigious trophy on 8th February 2026 in what is one of the biggest sporting occasions on the planet.
