Steve Tandy is, of course, the current Head Coach of Wales, and he has been in charge ever since he officially took over from his predecessor Warren Gatland back on 1st September 2025, though the announcement that he was going to take over had been made earlier that year in July 2025. Before he even took charge of Wales, Tandy had an extensive coaching career following his retirement from playing, during which he represented the likes of Bridgend (2010 – 2012) and Ospreys (2012 – 2018).
In coaching, he was the defence coach with the British and Irish Lions in 2021, whilst also holding that role with the Waratahs from 2018 to 2019, before moving on to Scotland, where he served as defence coach for 6 years between 2019 and 2025.
Between them, Wales and England have won the highly prestigious annual Six Nations tournament as many as 13 times, with Wales winning 6 times and England 7. Wales’ last Six Nations title win was in 2021, whilst England’s was in 2020.
Overall, Wales and England have met competitively on a number of occasions over the years in a variety of different competitions – 144 times to be exact. Currently, England has a superior record of 71 wins to Wales’s 61, whilst there have been as many as 12 draws so far. To date, the aggregate score is 2,042 – 1,804 in favour of England.
