Official Wales v Ireland Hospitality Packages – Guinness Six Nations 2025
Led by Head Coach Warren Gatland, Wales will welcome reigning Guinness Six Nations Champions Ireland to the Principality Stadium in Cardiff in the 2025 Guinness Six Nations on Saturday, 22nd February 2025.
Warren Gatland is currently two years into his second spell in charge of the Welsh national rugby team. He previously led his nation to four Six Nations Championship titles between 2007 and 2019.
Speaking of Six Nations titles, Wales have won the Six Nations on no less than 6 occasions – 2005, 2008, 2012, 2013, 2019 and 2021. Four of these (2008, 2012, 2013 & 2019) all came with Gatland in charge, and three of these titles came as part of Grand Slams.
Moving on to Ireland, and they are also no strangers to winning this competition, having done it 6 times as well. They have won the last two Six Nations Championships in a row (2023 & 2024), and their other five came in 2009, 2014, 2015 and 2018. In this time, they have done the Grand Slam on 3 occasions (2009, 2018 and 2023).
Both nations are in the top ten in the world rugby rankings. Wales occupy 10th spot, whilst Ireland, after winning a second Six Nations in a row, are currently occupying second spot in the rankings on 90.69 points with only South Africa above them with 94.54 points to their name as of the time of writing.
There have been a number of memorable Six Nations matches between Wales and Ireland over the years. For the first, we have to rewind all the way back to 1978 at Landsdowne Road, where after a competitive match, a JJ Williams try confirmed a 20 – 16 victory. Wales went on to win the Championship and the Triple Crown. The nation became the first to win three Triple Crowns in a row.
We now fast forward to 2009 for the next memorable moment from this fixture in the history of the Six Nations. Stephen Jones, Martyn Williams and Gareth Thomas all scored before Keith Gleeson set up a dramatic end to the contest with a couple of tries of his own.
Jones did give Wales the lead for the first time only for a famous drop goal to be scored by Ronan O’Gara to give Ireland a famous and hard fought 25 – 24 victory.
Overall, Wales and Ireland have faced each other on 135 occasions in all competitions over the years. Wales have won more with a total of 70 to date in comparison with 58 so far for Ireland. There have been just 7 draws between these two rival nations as of the time of writing.
This fixture is set to bring with it an incredible atmosphere at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff. No Wales or Ireland fan will want to miss an occasion like this!
