As for France, they are yet to win this competition since it began, but they did win two of the last three iterations of the Six Nations’ predecessor – the Five Nations. Their wins came in 1997 and 1998, and in both years they would go on to also win the Grand Slam.

As of the time of writing, England currently occupy fifth place in the World Rugby Rankings with     84.93 points. They are in fact one position and 1.46 points behind France themselves who are currently in fourth place in the current Rugby World Rankings.

This game between England and France should be a tight contest with both very capable of doing well in the 2025 Six Nations.

There have been a number of memorable matches between these two nations in the Six Nations from over the years. We start in 2008, when England were 13 – 24 winners against France thanks to two tries from Paul Sackey and Richard Wigglesworth, and it was Jonny Wilkinson who provided a crucial 14 points himself. It was a statement victory that day.

It had been a slightly tenser contest 8 years earlier in 2000 when they were narrow 9 – 15 winners – incredibly, Jonny Wilkinson was the scorer of all 15 points that were scored by Clive Woodward’s team. This game had no tries, but France were denied one by the linesman.

Overall, England have faced France on no less than 110 times over the years, and it is England with the most wins with 60 compared to 43 for France to date. There have been just 7 draws between them.
