Lulu’s much anticipated performance at this year’s Henley Festival will take place on day three of the event, on Friday 10th July 2026.
Over the course of her more than 60 year career in the music industry, she has won many awards and released a plethora of iconic hits that are popular to this day. Not only has she been awarded an OBE, but Lulu is also a Eurovision winner, doing so all the way back in 1969, whilst also having been honoured as an icon by the annual Scottish Music Awards back in 2024.
Just some of Lulu’s iconic hits from her stellar career so far includes, but is not limited to tracks like ‘Shout’, ‘To Sir with Love’, ‘Boom Bang-a-Bang’, ‘Relight My Fire’ (Collaboration with Take That), ‘The Man Who Sold The World’, ‘The Boat That I Row’, ‘Independence’, ‘The Man With The Golden Gun’, ‘I’m a Tiger’, and also ‘Oh Me Oh My (I’m a fool for you baby)’.
The aforementioned track ‘The Man With The Golden Gun’ was, of course, recorded and produced for the James Bond film of the same name, released all the way back in 1974.
Lulu’s debut single back in 1964 was a cover of ‘Shout’, which was originally released by The Isley Brothers a few years before that in 1959. It was a song that reached the top ten of the UK singles chart before further rising to prominence after singing the theme song for the 1967 film ‘To Sir, With Love’, in which she also appeared.
The song for the film topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the USA for no less than five consecutive weeks, and it went on to become the biggest-selling single of the entire calendar year of 1967.
Lulu then achieved a further five top ten hits on the UK singles chart, chief amongst which was ‘Boom Bang-a-Bang’, which sealed the Scot’s aforementioned win at Eurovision at the end of the 1960s in 1969.
She has also hosted a number of TV shows, including ‘Lulu’s Back in Town’ (1968), ‘Happening for Lulu’ (1968 – 1969), and finally ‘It’s Lulu’ (1970 – 1973).
In the mid-1970s, Lulu worked with another iconic artist, namely David Bowie, when she covered two of his songs, which were ‘The Man Who Sold the World’ and ‘Watch That Man’. Bowie was a producer for both alongside Mick Ronson.
Her cover of ‘The Man Who Sold the World’ became a top ten hit, whilst also peaking as high as 3rd in the UK chart in February 1974, whilst also featuring in the top ten in various other countries around Europe.
More recently, Lulu collaborated with the iconic boy band Take That in 1993 with the song ‘Relight My Fire’, which was the Scottish artist’s first ever number one single in the United Kingdom’s Singles Chart.
Then, in 2002, she collaborated with Ronan Keating for ‘We’ve Got Tonight’, which was an entry in the top ten in the charts in the UK. In that same year, Lulu released her highest charting studio album to date, ‘Together’, which peaked at number 2 in the Scottish albums charts, and at number four in the UK album chart. It went on to be certified Gold by the BPI (British Phonographic Industry).
Her aforementioned OBE was awarded to Lulu in 2000, whilst also receiving a CBE in 2021 for services to music, entertainment, and charity.
Then in 2025, she published her memoir ‘If Only You Knew’, which proved very popular, and it was a Sunday Times bestseller. Not only that, Lulu performed alongside Robbie Williams at the Emirates Stadium in North London, where there was a performance of ‘Relight My Fire’. Lulu also performed the song ‘Hot Leg’s alongside fellow music icon Rod Stewart in that same year.
