Madness, the quintessential British “Nutty Boys,” are a national treasure of the UK music scene. Formed in Camden Town in 1976, they became the face of the 2 Tone ska revival before evolving into one of the most successful pop bands in British history. They famously held the record for the most weeks spent on the UK singles chart by a group during the 1980s.
Led by the charismatic Suggs (Graham McPherson), the band is a tight-knit seven-piece ensemble known for their “heavy, heavy monster sound.” The lineup also includes Mike Barson, Chris Foreman, Lee Thompson, Mark Bedford, and Daniel Woodgate. The band is known for their unique blend of ska, reggae, and music-hall pop, as well as lyrics that paint vivid, humorous, and sometimes poignant pictures of working-class London life.
Madness has an incredible run of 15 UK Top 10 singles. Their most beloved tracks include ‘Our House’, ‘The Prince’, ‘Baggy Trousers’, ‘House of Fun’, ‘One Step Beyond’, and ‘Night Boat to Cairo’.
It has been announced that Madness will headline Newmarket Nights’ spectacular open-air show in 2026, one of the highlights of the horse racing summer calendar. The event will take place in June, July and August 2026, with Newmarket Racecourse once again hosting some of the UK’s biggest musicians, with the line-up set to include the likes of the Five, Madness, Jessie J, and Craig David TS5.
Everyone in attendance will be in for an incredible night of world-class music, together with a fantastic atmosphere to boot. This promises to be an evening to remember for you and your clients!
The 2026 Newmarket Nights are set to be spectacular if the most recent event is anything to go by. 2025’s event featured some of the world’s biggest artists, including Ministry of Sound Classical, Richard Ashcroft, Faithless, and the legendary Sir Tom Jones.
