Brentford, led by their Danish Head Coach Thomas Frank, will be heading to the Emirates Stadium to face Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal once more in the 2024/25 Premier League season. The Gunners’ target will be to dethrone Manchester City, who have won the last four titles in succession.

It was a second consecutive second place finish for the North London outfit last term, but Arsenal came closest to winning the title for a long time, ending up with 89 points – 2 behind the Cityzens at the top. As for Brentford, the Bees did find themselves perilously close to the relegation zone, but they did manage to avoid relegation comfortably in 16th in 2023/24.

The Gunners have only gone from strength to strength since the appointment of Head Coach Mikel Arteta, who succeeded Unai Emery in the Emirates hot seat back in December 2019. After guiding the club to 5th place in the latter half of the 2019/20, he has gone on to guide Arsenal to a 2ndplace finish in the two most recent seasons.

He also guided the club to an FA Cup Final triumph over London rivals Chelsea in August 2020, and the North London club has also won the FA Community Shield, doing so most recently in 2023 after beating Manchester City 4 – 1 on penalties.

Moving on to Brentford, Thomas Frank has been Head Coach since his appointment back on 16th October 2018, succeeding Dean Smith who had departed the London club for Aston Villa. The Danish Manager guided the Bees to a first-ever promotion to the Premier League in the 2020/21 campaign, and he has since firmly established them in the division.

Arsenal and Brentford have played against each other competitively just 20 times over the years. They first met in an FA Cup Qualifying Round fixture on 13th December 1902, drawing 1 – 1. It was the Gunners who won the replay 5 – 0 at the Manor Ground thanks to goals from Joseph John Maurice Connor, Tim Coleman, William Henry Gooing, and John William Anderson.

Overall it is Arsenal who have the superior record of 9 wins compared to Brentford’s total of 6. There have been just 5 draws between them to date.
