The iconic Emirates Stadium is set to host a match between Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal and Julen Lopetegui’s West Ham United as the two London clubs come face to face in North London in the 2024/25 Premier League season. The Gunners’ aspirations of winning the title ahead of the likes of Manchester City will be strengthened with a win against West Ham.

One of the biggest reasons why Arsenal have become serious title challengers once more is as a result of Mikel Arteta’s appointment at the North London club back in December 2019. After succeeding Unai Emery at the Emirates Stadium, he has since gone on to re-establish the Gunners in the UEFA Champions League, whilst also finishing second in both of the last two seasons. In the 2023/24 campaign, their total of 89 points was just 2 fewer than the 91 points that won Manchester City their historic fourth top flight title in succession.

Not only that, silverware has been won by the Gunners since Arteta’s appointment. Wins against both Liverpool and Manchester City respectively has seen them win two FA Community Shields (2020 & most recently in 2023). A 2 – 1 win against Chelsea in 2020 also saw Mikel Arteta’s Gunners secure a record 14th FA Cup.

Moving on to West Ham United, they appointed their Head Coach Julen Lopetegui on Thursday, May 23rd, 2024. The former Wolves Boss is looking to lead the Hammers back into European Football. Last season, West Ham finished 9th after accumulating 52 points from 38 matches.

Arsenal and West Ham United have played against each other competitively a total of 151 times over the years, with the Gunners having the superior record of 73 wins compared to 37 for the Hammers. There have been 41 draws between them so far.

Arsenal and West Ham will face off once more in what is set to be an enthralling and tense encounter at the Emirates Stadium in the 2024/25 Premier League season. Both clubs will be looking to enhance their chances of realising their respective ambitions for the season.
