Chelsea, led by their Italian Head Coach Enzo Maresca, are set to welcome Graham Potter’s West Ham United side to the iconic and historic Stamford Bridge, which is located in the heart of West London, during the 2025/26 Premier League season.
A victory here against the Hammers for the Blues would most certainly see them take a step closer to realising their ambitions for the current top-flight season, which are to secure themselves a second successive campaign in the highly prestigious UEFA Champions League.
Enzo Maresca is of course the current Head Coach of Chelsea Football Club, and he has been in charge since the Italian was named as Mauricio Pochettino’s successor at the West London side back on 1st July 2024. This appointment came just a few months ahead of the start of the 2024/25 Premier League season.
The 2024/25 campaign was his first full season in charge, and it was to be a very successful one, enjoyed by all those associated with this club. Starting with the Premier League, they were able to accumulate a total of no less than 69 points from their 38 top flight matches which was enough to see them successfully qualify for the UEFA Champions League ahead of the 2025/26 season following what was a 4th place finish overall.
As for their European campaign last term, they also enjoyed great success, winning some prestigious silverware. This was following a victory against Spanish team Real Betis in the 2025 UEFA Conference League Final in Poland, at the Wrocław Stadium in Wrocław, which took place back on Wednesday, 28th May 2025.
It was to be an emphatic 4 – 1 success against their La Liga counterparts, though Betis did manage to take what was an initial lead thanks to a goal within the first ten minutes of the game in the top half through their Moroccan forward Abde Ezzalzouli (9’).
The goals then came for Chelsea, with them finding the back of the Betis net thanks to the efforts from the likes of Enzo Fernandez (65’), Nicolas Jackson (70’), Manchester United loanee Jadon Sancho (83’), as well as their central midfielder Moises Caicedo in second half injury time in this game (90+1’).
Moving on to West Ham, their English Head Coach Graham Potter has been in charge of the club since he was appointed to replace Julen Lopetegui at the Hammers back on Thursday 9th January 2025, and in his first few months in charge, he managed to lead them to what was a 14th place finish with 43 points with them avoiding relegation in the end after 38 games by a margin of 18 points in the end.
The most recent competitive game in all competitions between these two teams was in the Premier League back on Monday 3rd February 2025 at Stamford Bridge in what was a tight, tense, and competitive 2 – 1 victory on the day for Chelsea, with the Blues scoring their goals through the likes of Pedro Neto (64’), as well as an own goal from Aaron Wan-Bissaka (74’). Meanwhile, West Ham scored their sole goal of the game through their senior England international forward Jarrod Bowen in the latter stages of the first half (42’), which did give them an initial lead before the Chelsea comeback in the second half.
Overall, Chelsea and West Ham United have met competitively in all competitions on no less than 124 occasions, and it is the Blues who do have the superior record of as many as 77 victories in this fixture, whilst the Hammers have 44 wins to their name currently against their West London rivals. There have also been 23 draws between these two sides to date, as of the time of writing.
