Everton, led by their Scottish Head Coach David Moyes is going to be taking on Andoni Iraola and his Bournemouth side, with this game set to be played at the all-new and modern Hill Dickinson Stadium in the heart of Merseyside, the new home of the Toffees. This is a game that is going to take place during the 2025/26 Premier League season.
This season, the Blues will be aiming for a respectable mid-table finish in the league by the end of the 38-game term, although they believe they are capable of finishing in the top half. Victory against their South Coast rivals would see them take a crucial step closer to realising their ambitions for the season.
This will be the first time that the Toffees and the Cherries will have come face to face for a competitive match at Everton’s new home, with them having left their famous former home Goodison Park at the end of last season. The modern Hill Dickinson Stadium is a large-capacity stadium, capable of holding no less than 52,769 people. This stadium is sure to create a great atmosphere for each game, including the upcoming match against Andoni Iraola and his team.
The match itself promises to be enthralling and highly competitive, with both sides competing fiercely for the all-important three points.
David Moyes is, of course, the current Head Coach of Everton Football Club, and the Scot is a well-renowned figure at this club. He is currently enjoying his second spell in charge, with his latest tenure starting 12 years after his original departure. His first era in charge of the Toffees took place for more than a decade between 2002 and 2013, which was when he chose to depart for fellow Premier League club Manchester United, where he became the successor for the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson.
During his original tenure at the club, he had plenty of iconic players under his command, including the likes of Tim Cahill, Wayne Rooney, David Unsworth, Thomas Gravesen, Tim Howard, Yakubu, Steven Pienaar, Phil Jagielka, Leighton Baines, and many more.
Between his two eras at Everton, David Moyes has been in charge of several other clubs, including Manchester United, Real Sociedad, Sunderland, and West Ham United, with the latter being his two occasions in total.
In 2023, he won a European Trophy with the Hammers, beating Italian Serie A outfit Fiorentina 2 – 1 in the 2023 UEFA Conference League Final, which was thanks to goals from the likes of Said Benrahma (62’ – Penalty) and Jarrod Bowen (90’), with it being Italian midfielder Giacomo Bonaventura who would score the only goal for La Viola on that day (67’).
The return of David Moyes to the club was officially confirmed back on Saturday 11th January 2025, with him being the successor to previous boss Sean Dyche at the club. He enjoyed a great start to his tenure in the final few months of last season, with the Scot leading them from a relegation battle to what was a very respectable 13th place finish with a grand total of no less than 48 points to their name after having played all 38 of their league games that term. They had survived relegation by a margin of no less than 23 points in the end.
The 2025/26 season will of course be his first full campaign since he returned to the club in order to take charge once more back in January 2025.
Moving on to Bournemouth, their Spanish Head Coach Andoni Iraola has been in charge of the Cherries ever since his appointment was confirmed when he succeeded the departing Gary O’Neil back on Monday 19th June 2023. In his very first full campaign in charge, Iraola managed to lead them to what was a very respectable 12th place finish with a total of no less than 48 points to their name overall.
Last season, he led them in what was an even better season where they would make history for the club. Iraola’s Bournemouth picked up a club record total of no less than 56 points whilst also recording a record high league finish of 9th place, with them only missing out on European Football by a margin of 9 points in the end. They will be looking to finish in the top seven and qualify for Europe this term.
Overall, Everton and Bournemouth have met competitively on no less than 22 occasions, and both sides have 10 wins each in this fixture to date. There have only been 2 draws between these two teams so far, as of the time of writing. All eyes will be on this game which promises to bring with it a tremendous atmosphere to accompany an enthralling game.
