In his first full season at the helm at Old Trafford, his United side ended up with a very creditable 3rd place finish with 75 points from their 38 matches in all, which was enough to secure them UEFA Champions League Football for the following season (2023/24).

Last season, Ten Hag’s side got knocked out in the Group Stages of the Champions League. They also accumulated 60 points to finish in 8th place on goal difference, with Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United finishing very narrowly ahead of them in 7th. United beat their cross-city rivals Manchester City 2 – 1 to win the 2024 FA Cup at Wembley Stadium, securing them qualification for the 2024/25 UEFA Europa League.

These two clubs have gone head to head in all competitions a total of 213 times, and Manchester United has the superior record of 95 victories compared with Everton’s total of 71 so far, as of the time of writing. There have been 47 draws between these two teams to date.
