Everton, led by their Head Coach Sean Dyche, are set to welcome an Eddie Howe-led Newcastle United side to Goodison Park in the 2024/25 Premier League season. The Merseyside outfit will be looking to avoid relegation even more comfortably, targeting a midtable finish by the end of their latest English Top Flight campaign.

The Toffees are set to move into their new 52,888-square-foot home ahead of the 2025/26 season. The 2024/25 season will be their final campaign at the historic Goodison Park, where they have been playing their football since they moved there from Anfield in 1892. Everton and Dyche will, therefore, want to make this campaign a particularly memorable one for the club and its supporters.

It was on 30th January 2023 that it was announced that Sean Dyche would be taking over from Frank Lampard in the Toffees’ managerial hotseat. By the end of his first half-season with his new club, Dyche, formerly of Watford and Burnley, managed to guide them to Premier League safety with a 17th-place finish. There was just a 2-point gap between themselves and the drop.

Then, last season, it was to be a much more comfortable 14-point gap between them and relegation to the EFL Championship after they had managed to accumulate 40 points from their 38 matches to finish in 15th place. This is more impressive, given that they had several points deductions.

Moving on to Newcastle United, their current Head Coach, Eddie Howe, took charge after succeeding Steve Bruce on 8 November 2021. His first half season saw him lead them to an 11th-place finish with 49 points before leading the Magpies to a return to the UEFA Champions League for the first time in more than 20 years after finishing 4th with 71 points in the 2022/23 season.

Last season, they finished 7th in the Premier League with 60 points, which would have secured them a place in the 2024/25 UEFA Europa Conference League had Manchester United not won the 2024 FA Cup Final at Wembley against their cross-city rivals Manchester City. They were knocked out of the 2023/24 UEFA Champions League at the Group Stages, but they enjoyed a memorable 4 – 1 victory at St. James’s Park against French Champions Paris Saint Germain.

These two clubs have gone head to head in all competitions a total of 184 times, and the Toffees have the superior record of 76 victories compared with Newcastle’s total of 71 as of the time of writing. There have been 37 draws between these two teams so far.
