David Moyes is set to lead his Everton side into a crucial clash against a Nottingham Forest team led by their Portuguese Head Coach Nuno Espirito Santo at the all-new and modern Hill Dickinson Stadium, which is the new home of Everton Football Club for generations to come during the 2025/26 Premier League season.
They will, of course, be hoping to get their hands on what would be a crucial three points and victory in this fixture against Forest, which would most certainly provide them with some fresh momentum going into the rest of the games in their latest top-flight league campaign. It would also take them a step closer to a mid-table finish. They will also keep an eye on potentially finishing in the top half instead.
This will be the first time that these two football clubs will have ever met in a competitive fixture at Everton’s new home, the modern Hill Dickinson Stadium, which has a capacity of no less than 52, 769, where there is set to be an excellent atmosphere for what looks set to be an enthralling and a highly competitive game.
David Moyes, the current Head Coach of Everton, with him enjoying currently what is his second spell at the club following his initial time at the club when he spent more than a decade between 2002 and 2013 with the Blues before then going on to succeed the legendary manager and fellow Scot Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United.
During his original era at Everton, there were a great number of very memorable players who donned the blue shirt of the Toffees, which included the likes of Tim Cahill, Wayne Rooney, David Unsworth, Thomas Gravesen, Tim Howard, Yakubu, Steven Pienaar, Phil Jagielka, Leighton Baines, as well as many more.
It has been more than a decade since Moyes was last at the club, with him being appointed 12 years after earlier being in the Everton dugout following spells at the likes of Manchester United, Real Sociedad, Sunderland, and West Ham United in the years between his two spells with the blue side of Merseyside. During his second tenure with West Ham, he won the 2023 UEFA Conference League Final with the Hammers, beating Italian side Fiorentina 2 – 1 in what was a historic game.
His first months in charge following his return at Everton saw Moyes take them from a relegation battle to a more than solid 13th place finish in the end with them on 48 points at the conclusion of the 2024/25 campaign with all of the 38 games having been played. The 2025/26 season will be David Moyes’ first full season in charge of Everton in more than a decade.
Throughout their most recent Premier League campaign, the Blues were able to get the better various teams, where they were able to beat the likes of Newcastle United (0 – 1), Fulham (1 – 3), Nottingham Forest (0 – 1), Leicester City (4 – 0), Spurs (3 – 2), Wolves (4 – 0), and finally Crystal Palace (2 – 1).
Moving on to Nottingham Forest, their current Head Coach, Nuno Espirito Santo, has been in charge of the Midlands Club as their Head Coach ever since the Portuguese was named as Steve Cooper’s permanent successor at the City Ground back on 20th December 2023.
Last season, his Forest side was able to perform beyond all expectations, following their narrow escape from relegation in the 2023/24 season. By the end of the 2024/25 campaign, they had finished in 7th place with a total of 65 points, having earned these points from their 38 games last term, securing a spot in the 2025/26 UEFA Conference League.
The most recent competitive game between these two clubs was an encounter in the Premier League back on Saturday 12th April 2025 away from home for Everton at the City Ground, where they were able to emerge victorious with a 1 – 0 scoreline, with all three points being secured by a winning goal from Abdoulaye Doucoure in dramatic fashion deep into second half stoppage time (90+4’).
Overall, Everton and Nottingham Forest have met competitively in all competitions on at least 134 occasions, and it is Everton who currently hold the superior record, with 58 victories in this fixture, while Forest have 48 wins to their name. There have also been 28 draws between these two teams to date, as of the time of writing.
