A mid-table finish and a season that sees them avoid relegation even more comfortably than last season is very much the target for the Toffees, and a win against Forest would certainly help them do so.

The 2024/25 Premier League season will be the last for the Merseyside Club to play at the historic Goodison Park, which has been the club’s home since they moved there from Anfield in 1892. Everton will soon move into their new 52,888-capacity home ahead of the 2025/26 season.

Following Frank Lampard’s departure, the former Burnley Boss Sean Dyche took charge of the Toffees, succeeding the former Chelsea and England midfielder at the club on 30th January 2023. His first half season with the Merseyside Club saw him lead them to safety, avoiding that dreaded relegation down to the EFL Championship in 17th place, with a margin of just 2 points.

Last season was Dyche’s first full campaign with the Toffees, and, despite the various points deductions that they suffered from, they nonetheless managed to avoid relegation more comfortably than the season before, accumulating a total of 40 points to leave them a total of 14 points clear of the drop after playing their 38 matches. It was a 15th-place finish for them overall in the end.

Moving on to Nottingham Forest, their current Head Coach, Nuno Espirito Santo, took charge at the City Ground following Steve Cooper as the Welshman’s successor at the club on 20th December 2023. Last season, the Portuguese Head Coach led his new club to safety in the Premier League, avoiding relegation in 17th place with 32 points. There was a gap of 6 points between them and a return to the EFL Championship once the 2023/24 Premier League season had concluded.

These two clubs have gone head to head in all competitions a total of 132 times, and the Toffees have the superior record of 57 victories compared with Nottingham Forest’s total of 47 to date. And, as of the time of writing, these two teams have 28 draws between them so far.
