Everton, led by their Scottish Head Coach David Moyes, is set to take on their North London counterparts in the form of Thomas Frank’s Spurs on Merseyside at the modern Hill Dickinson Stadium, which is the brand new home of the Toffees for generations to come.
This game is taking place during the 2025/26 Premier League season, and if they get all three points, then they can come a step closer to reaching their target of finishing midtable after 38 games had been played this term, and they could even have an on a potential top half finish when all is said and done for this season.
A victory against the Lilywhites would give the Blues a boost in their bid to realise their ambitions for this campaign, as well as it being a statement victory that would provide them with fresh momentum going into the remainder of their games this term.
The atmosphere for this game is set to be incredible as well, and this will, of course, be the first time that these two clubs, from Merseyside and North London respectively, are going to be going toe to toe in a competitive game at the new Hill Dickinson Stadium, which is a ground with a capacity of no less than 52,769. The Toffees will be hoping to be victorious in their maiden matchup with Spurs at their new stadium.
David Moyes is, of course, the current manager of Everton Football Club, with the Scot currently enjoying what is his second spell in charge to date. His first stint in charge spanned more than a decade between 2002 and 2013 when he chose to leave and become the successor to the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United.
His first era with Everton was famous for players like Tim Cahill, Wayne Rooney, David Unsworth, Thomas Gravesen, Tim Howard, Yakubu, Steven Pienaar, Phil Jagielka, Leighton Baines, and many more.
Moyes sealed a return to Merseyside as Toffees Boss following spells with the likes of Manchester United, Real Sociedad, Sunderland, and West Ham United, the latter of whom he won the 2023 UEFA Conference League title. The Scot’s re-appointment at Everton, where he would be succeeding Sean Dyche, was confirmed back on 11th January 2025.
The 2025/26 campaign will be his first full season in charge since his return. In his first few months back at the club, he was able to guide the club from relegation trouble to a comfortable and very respectable 13th place finish, after David Moyes’ side accumulated a grand total of no less than 48 points from their 38 games overall in the end, and they were 23 points above the relegation zone in the end.
Throughout their most recent season in the Premier League, the Toffees secured some notable victories against the likes of Newcastle United (0 – 1), Fulham (1 – 3), Nottingham Forest (0 – 1), Leicester City (4 – 0), Spurs (3 – 2), Wolves (4 – 0), and Crystal Palace (2 – 1).
Moving on to Spurs, their current Head Coach Thomas Frank has been at the club since his appointment on 12th June 2025, following his decision to depart Brentford for their North London rivals ahead of the 2025/26 season.
Their 2024/25 campaign was under the stewardship of former Head Coach Ange Postecoglou. They finished in 17th place with a grand total of 38 points from their 38 games, but they still secured a place in Europe, qualifying for the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League after beating Manchester United 1–0 in the 2025 UEFA Europa League Final in Bilbao, Spain. It was a strike from Brennan Johnson which secured the winning goal for the Lilywhites in the latter stages of the first half, just before half time (42’).
The most recent competitive encounter between these two clubs took place in the Premier League back on Sunday 19th January 2025 at Goodison Park, where it was an Everton win, with them beating Spurs 3 – 2 thanks to goals from the likes of Dominic Calvert-Lewin (13’) and Iliman N’Diaye (30’), whilst there was also an own goal from midfielder Archie Gray too deep into first half stoppage time (45+7’). Tottenham’s two goals that day came from Dejan Kulusevski (77’), and Richarlison (90+2’).
Overall, Everton and Spurs have met competitively in all competitions on no less than 190 occasions, and it is the Lilywhites who currently have the superior record of 72 victories in this fixture compared with the Toffees’ total of 58 to date. Whereas, at the time of writing, there have been 60 draws so far.
