Everton, led by their Scottish Head Coach David Moyes, is set to go head to head with Vitor Pereira’s Wolverhampton Wanderers at the all-new and modern Hill Dickinson Stadium in the heart of Merseyside, the Toffees’ new home, for a game that is set to take place during the 2025/26 Premier League season.
This season sees Everton targeting a mid-table finish, with a realistic possibility that the club could even secure a top-half finish instead. Victory and the three points it provides would see Moyes’ team take a significant step closer to realising their ambitions for the season, while also creating fresh momentum for the team.
This will be the first time that these two clubs will have ever played against each other at Everton’s new home following the club’s departure from Goodison Park at the end of last season. The modern Hill Dickinson Stadium currently has a seating capacity of at least 52,769, as of the time of writing. This should create a great atmosphere, with the game itself promising to be both enthralling and highly competitive.
David Moyes is the current Head Coach of Everton Football Club, with the Scot currently enjoying what is his second tenure at the Merseyside club 12 years on from his departure from the club for Manchester United back in 2013. His departure marked the end of a more than decade-long career at the club, as he succeeded the legendary manager and fellow Scot, Sir Alex Ferguson, at Old Trafford.
During his first stint at the club, Moyes was managing a number of great players in his various squads over the years, which included the likes of Tim Cahill, Wayne Rooney, David Unsworth, Thomas Gravesen, Tim Howard, Yakubu, Steven Pienaar, Phil Jagielka, Leighton Baines, as well as many more.
Between his two spells with Everton, David Moyes managed the likes of Manchester United, Real Sociedad, Sunderland, and West Ham United (twice), winning the 2023 UEFA Conference League title by beating Italian Serie A side Fiorentina 2–1 in the Final during his second spell with the Hammers.
Moyes’ anticipated return to the Toffees dugout was confirmed back on 11th January 2025, with the Scot succeeding Sean Dyche at the club. His first few months in charge were successful, with him taking them away from the relegation zone and the battle for survival as a whole, with the Toffees eventually going on to finish in a very respectable 13th place after accumulating a grand total of no less than 48 points from their 38 games in total in the league that term.
Moving on to Wolves, their Head Coach Vitor Pereira has been in charge ever since the Portuguese succeeded Gary O’Neil at the West Midlands based club back on 19th December 2024. Just like Moyes, his first months in charge has seen him guide his club away from the relegation battle, with them finishing in 16th place in the end with a grand total of 42 points to their name, which saw them secure survival by a margin of 17 points in the end.
The 2025/26 season will be both David Moyes and Vitor Pereira’s first full seasons in charge of their clubs since their respective appointments.
The most recent competitive game between these two clubs was an encounter in the Premier League back on Saturday 8th March 2025 at Molineux in what was a 1 – 1 draw between Everton and Wolves, with the likes of Marshall Munetsi (40’) and Jack Harrison (33’) scoring for their respective clubs on that day.
Overall, Everton and Wolves have met competitively in all competitions on no less than 144 occasions, and it is the Toffees who currently have the superior record of 64 wins compared with 51 for Wolverhampton Wanderers so far. There have been 29 draws between these two clubs to date, as of the time of writing.
