Sean Dyche’s Everton and Gary O’Neil’s Wolves will go toe to toe with each other at Goodison Park in the 2024/25 Premier League season. Not only do the Toffees want to put more distance between themselves and the relegation zone, but they will also target a mid-table finish once this season ends.

Everton have been playing at Goodison Park for more than 130 years, ever since they moved there after they left their previous home, Anfield, all the way back in 1892. Dyche and the club will make what will now be the club’s final ever season at this historic stadium in the 2024/25 campaign before they move into their brand new 52,888 capacity stadium ahead of the 2025/26 season.

Following the departure of former Head Coach Frank Lampard, Sean Dyche, formerly of Watford and Burnley, took charge of the Toffees back on 30th January 2023. By the end of his first half season at the club in 2022/23, he had guided them to safety with a 17th place finish with a total of 2 points separating themselves and relegation down to the Second Tier for the first time in the history of the Premier League.

Last season, the club successfully avoided relegation to the EFL Championship, this time by a much more comfortable margin. They earned 40 points, which was enough to earn them not only 15th place but also a gap of 14 points between them and the relegation zone.

Moving on to Wolves, Gary Lopetegui succeeded Julen O’Neil at Molineux on 9th August 2023. He guided them to a stunning 2 – 1 victory over Pep Guardiola’s Premier League Champions Manchester City at Molineux in September 2023 before leading the West Midlands Club to a 14th-place finish. They finished with 46 points from their 38 matches in the end.

These two clubs have played each other in a competitive fixture on 142 occasions, and Everton has the superior record of 63 wins compared with 51 for Wolves to date. As of the time of writing, there have been 28 draws between these two teams.
