A much-anticipated match is set to be played in the English Capital when two local rivals, Marco Silva’s Fulham and Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal, meet at the iconic and historic Craven Cottage at the heart of West London during the 2025/26 Premier League season. The Cottagers are looking for European football this season, and a victory against the Gunners would help them achieve this, while also making a statement to the rest of the division at the same time.
Fans of Fulham will be looking at this season with a real possibility of securing European Football, having not experienced continental football since the 2011/12 season, when they participated in that season’s UEFA Europa League. In that year’s competition, they initially had to go through several qualifying rounds.
Ahead of the group stage, Fulham were able to get the better of the likes of NSI Runavik (Faroe Islands, 3 – 0 agg.), Crusaders (Northern Ireland, 7 – 1 agg.), RNK Split (Croatia, 2 – 0 agg.), as well as Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk (Ukraine, 3 – 1 agg).
Then came the group stages, where they were unfortunately knocked out of the competition at this stage in third place with their wins coming against Denmark’s Odense 2 – 0 away from home and Poland’s Wisla Krakow at Craven Cottage, beating them 2 – 0 and 4 – 1 respectively. Fulham will want another opportunity in Europe, for next season.
In the present day, Fulham’s Head Coach is of course Marco Silva, who has been in charge of the West London club ever since he succeeded Scott Parker at the club all the way back on 1st July 2021.
The 2021/22 season was the Portuguese’s first full campaign in charge, and it was one that saw his side waltz their way to promotion and the title with them being one of the most dominant teams in the EFL Championship. They not only earned 90 points from their 46 matches in the second tier, but they were also able to score a total of no less than 106 goals as well. They also finished two points ahead of Bournemouth in second place.
Now in the most recent season, the 2024/25 campaign, Silva led his Fulham side in the race for European football last term. Still, unfortunately for the Cottagers, they were one of the clubs who missed out on qualification for Europe, with them eventually having to settle for what was an 11th place finish after earning a grand total of 43 points from their 38 games in total in the English top flight. They will certainly look to do one better this season and finish in the top seven. They were 11 points adrift of Europe last term.
Moving on to Arsenal, they have of course been regular title challengers in recent years under their Spanish Head Coach Mikel Arteta, who has been in charge of the Gunners ever since he was announced as the permanent successor to Unai Emery at the Emirates Stadium back on 20th December 2019.
Last season (2024/25), the North London heavyweights had to settle for what was a second place finish in the end after earning what was a grand total of 74 points from their 38 top flight matches, losing out on the title to Liverpool that season in what was their third successive season as runners up.
The last time that these two clubs met competitively in all competitions was in the Premier League back on 1st April 2025, where the Cottagers narrowly lost 2 – 1 at the Emirates Stadium. Fulham’s most recent victory against Arsenal was on 31st December 2023 at Craven Cottage, where goals from the likes of Raul Jimenez (29’) and Bobby Decordova-Reid (59’) ensured what was a tight and tense 2 – 1 victory against the Gunners. The only Arsenal goal in this game came from England international forward Bryan Mbeumo (5’).
Overall, Fulham and Arsenal have met competitively in all competitions on a total of 65 occasions, and it is the Gunners who have the superior record, with 43 wins to date, as of the time of writing. Fulham has achieved 9 victories against the Gunners so far. There have also been 13 draws between these two clubs.
