Fulham, led by their Portuguese Head Coach Marco Silva, are set to take on Nuno Espirito Santo’s Nottingham Forest at the iconic and historic Craven Cottage during the 2025/26 Premier League season. These two sides will both be competing for European football, so it will be a big game, with the Cottagers looking to secure what would be a statement victory.
This campaign will see Fulham target a return to the European stage, with the club having not played in European Football since the 2011/12 season, when they competed in the UEFA Europa League. And, before they had even got to the group stage, they still had to go through some qualifying rounds.
Throughout these four qualifying rounds, the Cottagers had to get the better of the likes of NSI Runavik (Faroe Islands, 3 – 0 agg.), Crusaders (Northern Ireland, 7 – 1 agg.), RNK Split (Croatia, 2 – 0 agg.), and finally Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk (Ukraine, 3 – 1 agg).
Then, once they got to the group stages, the West London outfit were unfortunately knocked out at this point in the competition, with the club finishing down in third place after all the games had been played. They did though manage to come away with victories against the likes of Denmark’s Odense away from home and Polish outfit Wisla Krakow at Craven Cottage, who were both beaten 2 – 0 and 4 – 1 respectively. Fulham will be looking to have another European campaign next season.
The 2021/22 season was Marco Silva’s first full campaign at the club, and he led the team in what was a very successful season for the team. It saw Fulham finish at the summit of the EFL Championship table, being declared Champions after finishing with a points total of no less than 90, while also scoring an extraordinary total of 106 goals.
Fast forward to Silva’s most recent full season in charge back in the 2024/25 campaign, and they were amongst the clubs fighting for European Football throughout the year, only for the Cottagers to eventually miss out by a margin of 11 points after they had settled for what was an 11th place finish after having accumulated a total of 54 points from their 38 games in total in the Premier League.
Moving on to Nottingham Forest, they are led by a fellow Portuguese Head Coach in the form of Nuno Espirito Santo, who has been in charge of the Midlands based club since he succeeded Steve Cooper back on 20th December 2023. He led them to safety in the second half of that season to finish in 17th place to avoid relegation in the end.
Forest was one of the surprise packages of the 2024/25 Premier League season, with Nuno leading them to an excellent 7th place finish with a total of no less than 65 points, which was enough to see them successfully qualify for the 2025/26 UEFA Conference League.
The most recent competitive match between these two clubs in all competitions took place in the Premier League on 15th February 2025 at Craven Cottage. It was a 2 – 1 win in the end for the Cottagers, who were able to find the back of the net thanks to the efforts of the likes of Emile Smith-Rowe (15’) and Calvin Bassey (62’) either side of half time. It was Chris Wood who was the scorer of the sole goal for Forest on that day (37’).
Overall, Fulham and Nottingham Forest have gone head to head competitively in all competitions on a grand total of no less than 108 occasions, and it is Fulham who has the superior record of 47 victories, with Forest currently on 33 wins so far, as of the time of writing. There have been a total of 28 draws between the Cottagers and Forest overall to date.
