Marco Silva’s Fulham are set to welcome a title-chasing Manchester City side led by their Spanish Head Coach Pep Guardiola to the iconic and historic Craven Cottage throughout the 2025/26 Premier League season. If the Cottagers do indeed manage to collect all three points with a victory over the Cityzens, they will not only achieve a shock victory, but they can also take a step closer to European Football for next season with a win.
Returning to European Football is most certainly something that the club will be targeting, and after they missed out on a top seven finish last season, they will be hoping to take the next step and do so in their latest campaign in the top flight. The most recent venture into Europe was back in the 2011/12 season when they were competing in the prestigious UEFA Europa League.
That year, the Cottagers still had to go through several qualifying rounds to get to the Group Stage at all. They did so successfully, making it comfortably to this stage of the competition following victories against the likes of NSI Runavik (Faroe Islands, 3 – 0 agg.), Crusaders (Northern Ireland, 7 – 1 agg.), RNK Split (Croatia, 2 – 0 agg.), and finally Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk (Ukraine, 3 – 1 agg).
Then in the Group Stages themselves, this is where Fulham was unfortunately knocked out of the competition after a 3rd-place finish. They will be looking to give themselves another chance on the European stage. They did though manage to beat Denmark’s Odense away from home and Polish outfit Wisla Krakow at Craven Cottage, with the two teams being defeated 2 – 0 and 4 – 1 respectively.
We now fast forward to the 2021/22 season, which was current boss Marco Silva’s very first in charge of the club, guiding them to instant promotion back to the Premier League after leading them to the EFL Championship title. This came after the Cottagers had accumulated a total of no less than 90 points, two ahead of the runners-up Bournemouth. Fulham also scored an incredible 106 goals that year.
They have remained in the Premier League ever since their promotion in 2022, and in their most recent top flight campaign, 2025/26, Silva’s side went on to secure what was an 11th place with 54 points, with them in the race for Europe for much of the campaign, but they, unfortunately, missed out on a top seven finish by a total of 11 points in the end.
Moving on to Manchester City, Pep Guardiola has had immense success since joining the Cityzens in 2016, succeeding Manuel Pellegrini at the club. Among the honours he has won with City, include six Premier League titles, two FA Cups, four League Cups, and one UEFA Champions League title.
Last season (2025/26), City did not manage to defend their title again, this time having to settle for what was a 3rd place finish in the Premier League after having earned a total of 71 points from their 38 games, which saw them finish behind runners-up Arsenal by a margin of just 3 points in the end. They themselves will be looking to regain the Premier League title this season.
Overall, Fulham and Manchester City have gone head to head competitively in all competitions on a grand total of no less than 76 occasions, and it is City who has the superior record of 43 victories in this fixture over the years, and as of the time of writing, the Cottagers have 17 wins to their name against the Cityzens. There have been 16 draws to date between these two teams.
