The dress code for hospitality facilities at Anfield Stadium is smart casual to ensure a formal atmosphere.

Hospitality guests are not permitted to wear ripped denim or tracksuits. In addition to this, please be aware that if you are arriving at The Beautiful Game, there is a smart casual dress code where trainers, football shirts and tracksuits are not permitted.

Arne Slot’s Liverpool are set to welcome Regis Le Bris and his newly promoted Sunderland side to the iconic and historic Anfield during the 2025/26 Premier League season. The three points in this game would propel them ever closer to title glory, whilst also providing them with fresh momentum going into the remainder of the season.

Momentum is one of the key ingredients of any successful bid for the title, and this is something that the club has not been short of in recent times. Not only that, but the Reds have also been consistent in their exceptional form in recent times, and this ought to help the Merseyside club strengthen their chances of realising their ambitions.

Club legend Jürgen Klopp is a legendary figure at the club, having won numerous trophies during his tenure. He announced his departure around the halfway point of the 2023/24 season. Dutch Head Coach Arne Slot then took over soon after, becoming the Reds’ latest manager officially on June 1, 2024.

And so, the 2024/25 season was to be Slot’s first full campaign in charge on the red half of Merseyside, which saw them play better than any other team throughout the 38 games. This resulted in them coming out on top as title winners, having accumulated a total of 84 points. In the end, Arsenal ended up as the runners-up, ten points adrift of the title winners.

Throughout this title-winning campaign in the top flight of English Football, Liverpool were able to pick up several crucial results, with none being more important to them than that very memorable 5 – 1 triumph against Tottenham Hotspur. The Reds were able to score their goals thanks to the efforts of the likes of Luis Diaz (16’), Alexis Mac Allister (24’), Cody Gakpo (34’), and Mohamed Salah (63’), whilst there was also an own goal that was from Spurs left back Destiny Udogie (69’).

Moving on to Sunderland, their current Head Coach Regis Le Bris has been in charge ever since he officially succeeded Michael Beale in charge of the Black Cats back on 22nd June 2024, just a few months ahead of the start of last season.

In the 2024/25 season, his first full season in charge, the Frenchman was able to lead his new team to the incredible feat of promotion back to the Premier League 8 years after their last game in the top flight of English Football.  They did this after beating Sheffield United 2 – 1 in the EFL Championship Play-Off Final at the iconic Wembley Stadium on 24th May 2025. This followed a 4th place finish after they had earned a total of 76 points from their 46 matches in the regular season.

The last time that these two clubs met in a competitive game was in the Premier League back on 2nd January 2017, when they drew 2 – 2 with each other at the Stadium of Light thanks to goals from the likes of Jermain Defoe (25’ – Penalty, 84’ – Penalty) for Sunderland, and Daniel Sturridge (19’) and Sadio Mane (72’) for Liverpool.

Earlier on in that season, the Reds had been able to beat the Black Cats 2 – 0 at Anfield on 26th November 2016 thanks to goals from the likes of Divock Origi (75’) and James Milner, who had been able to score from the penalty spot in the last few moments of the game (90’).

Overall, Liverpool and Sunderland have gone head to head in a competitive game in all competitions on a grand total of no less than 170 occasions, and it is the Reds who have the superior record of 79 wins compared with the Black Cats’ 52 in total so far, as of the time of writing. There have also been a total of 39 draws between the clubs to date.
