Manchester City, led by their Spanish Head Coach Pep Guardiola, are set to welcome Thomas Frank’s Spurs to the iconic Etihad Stadium located in the heart of Manchester during the 2025/26 Premier League season.
Victory for the Cityzens against their North London counterparts would not only be a statement result, but it would also see them take a crucial step closer to realising their target for this season, which is to regain the Premier League title after losing out to Liverpool last term. Incredibly, if City do so, it would be a 7th in the previous 10 seasons for the club.
The aforementioned Pep Guardiola is of course the current Head Coach of Manchester City Football Club, and it is a role that he has held ever since he officially took over from Manuel Pellegrini ahead of the start of the 2016/17 season. The Spaniard’s appointment to succeed his Chilean counterpart had already been confirmed back on 1st February 2016.
Last season, City did indeed go on to miss out on the title after they had to settle for what was a third place finish in the English top flight after having accumulated a grand total of 71 points from their 38 games. This was of course still enough to qualify for the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League, and they will be hoping to become Champions once more this season.
The Cityzens will be hoping to add to the extensive number of trophies that they have won since the arrival of Pep Guardiola. As of the time of writing, he has led the club to as many as 18 trophies – this includes 6 Premier League titles (2017/18, 2018/19, 2020/21, 2021/22/ 2022/23 & 2023/24), 2 FA Cups (2018/19 & 2022/23), 4 Carabao Cup titles (2017/18, 2018/19, 2019/20 & 2020/21), 3 FA Community Shield titles (2018, 2019 & 2024), 1 UEFA Champions League title (2022/23), 1 UEFA Super Cup title (2023), and finally 1 FIFA Club World Cup (2023).
Moving on to Spurs, their Danish Head Coach Thomas Frank has been in charge ever since he officially became the successor to Ange Postecoglou at the North London Club back on Thursday 12th June 2025, shortly after the conclusion of last season.
Tottenham spent last term under the stewardship of their now ex-Head Coach Ange Postecoglou, during which they finished down in 17th place in the Premier League table after they were able to earn a total of 38 points from as many games.
However, they did taste glory when they qualified for the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League following what was a 1 – 0 win against fellow English Club Manchester United in the 2025 UEFA Europa League Final on Wednesday 21st May, which was decided by a Brennan Johnson goal late on in the first half, just before the half time break (42’).
The last time that these two clubs went face to face competitively in all competitions was in the Premier League back on Wednesday 26th February 2025 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in what was a tight 1 – 0 victory for City in what was a tense and competitive game between these two teams. In the end, it was a goal from Manchester City’s star striker Erling Haaland in the early stages of the game in the first half that won the game for the away side on that day (12’).
Overall, Manchester City and Spurs have met competitively in all competitions on no fewer than 174 occasions, and it is City who have slightly more wins in this particular fixture, with 69, narrowly more than their North London counterparts, who have 68 victories against the Cityzens to date. There have also been 37 draws between these two teams so far, as of the time of writing.
