The atmosphere for the 2026 iteration of the Ascot Howden Christmas Racing Weekend is promising to be electric once more for what is a highly anticipated race meeting at such a famous and historic racecourse. This is a headline event for Ascot, with it being the last major race meeting of the calendar year.

There are some races in particular that stand out amongst the rest – these include the Howden Noels Novices’ Chase and the Long Walk Hurdle, which will both be making their respective returns for 2026.

Starting with the Noel’s Novices’ Chase, the most recent winner was Steel Ally, ridden by Jockey Dylan Johnston, followed by runner-up Push The Button, and by No Questions Asked, who was the pre-race favourite, finishing in third place in the end.

Moving on to the aforementioned Long Walk Hurdle, this was most recently won by Impose Toi, ridden by Jockey Nico de Boinville back in December 2025. De Boinville managed to ride Impose Toi to victory ahead of the stern competition that came from the likes of Sean Bowen’s Strong Leader and Mark Walsh’s Honesty Policy, who came in second and third place, respectively, in the end.
