Dress Code
As you may expect, the dress code for the Village Enclosure at Royal Ascot is very formal. Let’s take a look at what men and women are to wear when enjoying hospitality and racing from this fantastic enclosure.
Starting with men, they should wear a suit jacket or blazer, a full-length trouser or chino, a collared shirt, a neck tie (bow ties and a cravat are acceptable too!), and socks, which need to be worn whilst covering the ankle.
Moving on to women, they should wear a dress or top and skirt (with shoulder or halter neck straps), trouser suits (matching material and colour), jumpsuits (they should fall below the knee and comply with strap requirements) and a hat, headpiece or fascinator.
The following is not allowed for men or women: Novelty patterns and fabrics, trainers, denim, leggings, shorts. Now we take a look at what women are not allowed to wear: dresses and tops that are strapless, one shoulder, off the shoulder, Bardot, sheer or with visible midriffs. Fancy dress is also banned for all.
The dress code for children (Aged 10 to 17) is the dress code above, but the hats, headpieces and fascinators are not compulsory.
If you are an overseas visitor, you are permitted to wear formal national dress of your country. However, you will need to wear a hat or a headpiece. If you are serving military personnel, you can wear your service dress or something that is equivalent to this.
