Arsenal Crowned Premier League Champions After Man City and Bournemouth Draw

Arsenal are Premier League champions for the first time since The Gunners went invincible in 2004 after Bournemouth held Manchester City to a 1-1 draw.
There were wild celebrations at Arsenal’s training ground after the squad and staff gathered to watch Man City’s draw at the Vitality Stadium. England’s Declan Rice posted on Instagram within minutes of the final whistle, celebrating Arsenal’s title win, posing with Kai Havertz, Eberechi Eze, Bukayo Saka, Myles Lewis-Skelly and William Saliba with the caption “I told you all… it’s done.”
Further footage which was shared on social media saw the squad chanting “championes” with Eze jumping up and down on a table.
44-year-old Mikel Arteta is the second-youngest manager to win the Premier League, behind José Mourinho with Chelsea in 2005.
Arsenal also released a video on their social media accounts, introduced by Wenger drinking a glass of red wine. “Champions go on when others stop,” he said. “Now go on and enjoy every moment.”
It is just Arteta’s second career trophy as a manager after winning the FA Cup with Arsenal in 2020. Despite the six-year gap between trophies, this is an incredible achievement for the Spaniard in his first managerial job. Arteta has transformed his side into champions after taking over from now Aston Villa manager Unai Emery.
His side has finished as runners-up in the past three campaigns and has led the way for the vast majority of this campaign.
With five games to go, Arsenal and Man City were level on points, but with City dropping points in two of their last four games, Arsenal have now won the league with a game in hand.
Arsenal fans gathered around the Emirates Stadium after the full-time whistle was blown last night and partied long into the evening. Former Gunners striker Ian Wright even appeared in the wild celebrations, hugging other supporters in an outpouring of emotion.
Arsenal will receive the Premier League trophy at Selhurst Park on Sunday after they face Crystal Palace in their final game. Arteta will become the longest-serving manager in England’s top four divisions when Guardiola’s departure from City after 10 years is confirmed, and has the chance to emulate his mentor by winning the Champions League when Arsenal face Paris Saint-Germain on 30 May. Only five times has an English team won the top division and the European Cup in the same season, with City the last to do so in 2023.
