Joe Dean produced the round of his career to win the 2026 British Masters at The Belfry, overturning a seven-shot final-round deficit to secure his maiden DP World Tour title.

“It was a rare day when everything felt right and the putts were dropping and I couldn’t do anything wrong.”

Penge and Hillier unable to halt Dean’s charge

The Englishman moved to 10 under following an excellent second-round 65 and began the final round on the same score after completing a third-round 72 on Sunday morning.

Five birdies and two bogeys across his opening nine holes briefly moved Penge into a one-shot lead, but his challenge began to fade after another dropped shot at the 11th.

His hopes were effectively ended at the par-five 17th. After driving into the trees, Penge struck a branch with his second shot before being forced to chip sideways with his third. A bogey followed, before another dropped shot at the last left him with a final-round 72 and a 10-under total.

Hillier, who had started the final round at the top of the leaderboard, also encountered difficulties. A double-bogey six at the sixth damaged his chances of lifting the trophy, and although two birdies arrived on the back nine, a one-over 73 left him three shots behind Dean.

The New Zealander finished on 11 under alongside Denmark’s Niklas Norgaard and Jacob Skov Olesen, as well as Spain’s Nacho Elvira.

Zanotti’s late challenge ends dramatically

Fabrizio Zanotti briefly emerged as another possible threat to Dean after a superb run on the back nine.

The Paraguayan made four birdies in five holes to reach 12 under and close the gap at the top, only for his challenge to unravel on the 18th. Zanotti needed two attempts to escape a fairway bunker before finding the water on his way to a triple bogey.

He eventually finished on nine under, leaving Dean safely clear at the top of the leaderboard.

The final standings saw Dean win on 14 under, with Hillier, Norgaard, Skov Olesen and Elvira sharing second on 11 under. Penge and Tom McKibbin were among those immediately behind on 10 under.

Weather causes major disruption at the British Masters
