Pakistan Collapse Gives England Immediate Control
England wasted little time taking charge after Pakistan batted first on Wednesday.
The visitors were bowled out for only 133 in 33.5 overs, with Saud Shakeel’s 43 the only significant resistance as England’s pace attack dominated proceedings.
Josh Tongue led the bowling figures with 4-42, while Ollie Robinson claimed 3-15 and Jofra Archer returned 3-25. Robinson also reached 100 Test wickets during another excellent performance in a series he has dominated.
England did suffer some early problems of their own in response, but Emilio Gay and Harry Brook shifted momentum firmly back towards the hosts.
Gay made 60 while Brook reached the close unbeaten on 52, helping England recover to 156-4 and establish a 23-run advantage before the end of the opening day.
England Pile On The Runs On Day Two
Any hopes Pakistan had of forcing their way back into the contest faded during the second day.
Brook continued his innings before eventually being run out for 75, while Dan Lawrence struck 65 and Jamie Smith added 69 as England steadily increased their advantage.
The runs continued further down the order. Robinson followed his three wickets from Pakistan’s first innings with a half-century from 47 balls, while Archer finished unbeaten on 32 as England reached 453.
Pakistan debutant Razaullah was one of the few positives for the tourists. The 21-year-old finished with four wickets on his first Test appearance, although England’s scoring rate meant his 23 overs came at a cost of 148 runs.
Robinson Strikes Again As Pakistan Face Defeat
Robinson’s impact on the Test continued almost immediately when Pakistan began their second innings.
Saim Ayub was caught by Brook from Robinson’s first delivery before Abdullah Shafique edged the fourth ball of the same over to Joe Root, leaving Pakistan 0-2.
It took Robinson’s series tally to 21 wickets at an average below seven and put England within touching distance of completing a dominant summer against Pakistan.
Pakistan did manage to avoid further damage before the weather intervened. They reached 52-2 after 12.4 overs before rain ended play, but the scale of England’s first-innings advantage means the tourists still face a considerable task simply to make the hosts bat again.
England will therefore begin Day Three just eight wickets away from victory and a 3-0 series whitewash.

The conclusion of the Pakistan series will turn attention towards a huge 2027 at the Edgbaston Stadium.
