Premier League Gameweek 32 Preview

Premier League Trophy

The Premier League returns this weekend, following the conclusion of the international break, with a thrilling round of fixtures, featuring crucial clashes at both ends of the table. With title ambitions, European qualification hopes, and survival hopes all on the line, supporters can look forward to an action-packed few days of top-flight football.

Saturday 11th April

Arsenal vs AFC Bournemouth (12:30)

The weekend’s action gets underway at the Emirates Stadium, where Arsenal will be eager to return to winning ways domestically as they continue their pursuit of the elusive Premier League title. The Gunners have endured a challenging spell in cup competitions, suffering a defeat to Southampton in the FA Cup and falling short against title rivals Manchester City in the Carabao Cup Final. However, Mikel Arteta’s side did bounce back in the UEFA Champions League with a 0-1 win in Lisbon against Sporting CP.

Bournemouth, meanwhile, will arrive in North London with ambitions of their own. Under the guidance of Andoni Iraola, the Cherries have impressed this season and have genuine hopes of securing European football. Currently sitting 13th but just two points from a potential UEFA Conference League spot, Bournemouth boast exciting talents such as Alex Scott and Rayan, ensuring they will provide a stern test for the league leaders.

Brentford vs Everton (15:00)

Few Brentford supporters could have predicted their side sitting seventh and firmly in UEFA Champions League contention heading into April. Yet, under the leadership of Keith Andrews, the Bees have exceeded expectations with a season defined by a squad who are working hard for each other and the best season of Igor Thiago’s career!

A similarly impressive narrative surrounds Everton. Managed by the experienced David Moyes, the Toffees find themselves just behind Brentford in the table, making this encounter potentially decisive in the race for European qualification.

The reverse fixture in January delivered plenty of drama, as Brentford secured a thrilling 4–2 away victory. Brazilian forward Igor Thiago stole the headlines with a superb hat-trick against Jordan Pickford, a performance Everton will be eager to avenge.

Burnley vs Brighton & Hove Albion (15:00)

Brighton & Hove Albion travel to Turf Moor in great form, having secured consecutive victories prior to the international break against Sunderland and Liverpool. The Seagulls will be aiming to maintain their momentum as they push for a strong finish to the campaign.

For Burnley, the stakes couldn’t be higher. Scott Parker’s side faces an uphill battle to preserve their Premier League status, currently sitting ten points adrift of 17th-placed Tottenham Hotspur. Anything less than three points could leave their survival hopes hanging by a thread.

The previous meeting between the sides ended in a comfortable 2–0 win for Brighton, with Georginio Rutter and Yasin Ayari finding the net on either side of half-time.

Liverpool vs Fulham (17:30)

Saturday’s action concludes at Anfield, where Liverpool will look to respond after what has been a challenging and emotionally charged week. With the confirmed departures of Mohamed Salah and Andrew Robertson at the end of the season, coupled with a first-leg defeat to Paris Saint-Germain at the Parc des Princes, Arne Slot’s side will be eager to restore momentum in front of their home supporters.

Despite these setbacks, the Reds remain firmly in contention for UEFA Champions League qualification. Currently sitting in fifth place, they hold a slender advantage over Chelsea, making this a crucial encounter in the race for Europe’s elite competition.

Fulham, however, will arrive on Merseyside with ambitions of their own. Under Marco Silva, the Cottagers have enjoyed an impressive campaign and sit ninth in the table. With European football within reach, Fulham will be determined to continue their strong form and edge closer to a historic return to the continental stage.

Sunday 12th April

Crystal Palace vs Newcastle United (14:00)

Selhurst Park plays host to an intriguing clash as Crystal Palace welcome Newcastle United in a fixture with significant implications for both sides. Newcastle supporters may be the only set of supporters who have mixed feelings about the international break concluding. A defeat in the Tyne & Wear derby against Sunderland and a heavy loss to FC Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League have placed Eddie Howe’s side under scrutiny as the season enters its final few weeks.

Crystal Palace, meanwhile, are enjoying an encouraging spell under Oliver Glasner. A commanding 3–0 victory over ACF Fiorentina in the UEFA Conference League quarter-final has boosted confidence, and the Eagles remain within touching distance of the European places. With aspirations of silverware and continental qualification, Glasner will be looking to leave Palace on a high.

Nottingham Forest vs Aston Villa (14:00)

Both clubs come into this match after positive results in the UEFA Europa League, with the aim of facing eachother in the sem-final. Villa will return to Villa Park next week with a two-goal advantage after a 3–1 first-leg victory over Bologna FC 1909, while Forest earned a 1–1 draw away at FC Porto.

In the Premier League, however, the stakes are equally significant. Unai Emery’s, Aston Villa continue to compete at the top end of the table. Currently sitting fourth, the Villans are aiming to cement their place in next season’s UEFA Champions League.

Nottingham Forest, led by Vítor Pereira, face a different challenge as they battle to secure their Premier League status. With only Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United between themselves and the relegation zone.

Despite their precarious league position, Forest have shown encouraging signs in recent weeks. Unbeaten in their last four matches, the Reds appear to be rediscovering form at a pivotal stage of the season and will relish the opportunity to face Villa in front of their supporters at the City Ground.

Sunderland vs Tottenham Hotspur (14:00)

Tottenham Hotspur travel to Wearside to face Sunderland in a fixture filled with intrigue, marking what is set to be Roberto De Zerbi’s first game in charge of the Lilywhites.

The visitors begin the weekend in 17th place and could slip into the relegation zone depending on results elsewhere. However, with renewed optimism surrounding the club, Tottenham will be determined to make the most of their new manager bounce.

Sunderland, meanwhile, have enjoyed a superb return to the top flight. The Black Cats have exceeded expectations this season and remain firmly in contention for European qualification. Sitting just three points adrift of the UEFA Europa League places, they will be aiming to capitalise on home advantage and sink Tottenham into even more trouble.

Chelsea vs Manchester City (16:30)

Chelsea should arrive into this clash with renewed confidence after an emphatic 7–0 victory over Port Vale, a result that ended a run of four consecutive defeats prior to the international break. With a trip to Wembley on the horizon, Liam Rosenior’s men will be eager to get their season back on track and make sure that their Premier League campaign doesn’t fizzle out.

The Blues face a defining period in their season, with crucial fixtures against Manchester City, Manchester United, and Brighton, alongside an FA Cup semi-final showdown with Leeds United in their next four.

Standing in their way is a Manchester City side peaking at just the right time. Despite their UEFA Champions League exit at the hands of Real Madrid, Pep Guardiola’s men remain firmly in contention for a domestic treble. The Cityzens trail league leaders Arsenal by nine points but have a game in hand and still have a huge clash with the Gunners at the Etihad Stadium.

Monday 13th April

Manchester United vs Leeds United (20:00)

This is one of English football’s most enduring rivalries, and a fixture that rarely fails to deliver. At Old Trafford, Manchester United will be looking to continue their impressive turnaround in form under Michael Carrick, with standout performances from captain Bruno Fernandes helping to cement the Red Devils firmly into the UEFA Champions League qualification places.

Leeds United, meanwhile, arrive under pressure as they continue to look over their shoulder in their bid for survival.

A win would go a long way to securing their Premier League status, and with an FA Cup semi-final on the horizon it could soon turn into a memorable year for Leeds supporters.
