The Gypsy King’s Comeback:

Who is Fury Fighting and When?

Tyson Fury at Tottenham Hotspur

Tyson Fury is officially ending his short-lived retirement for a fifth time. He is scheduled to return to the ring on Saturday, April 11, 2026, to face the powerhouse contender Arslanbek Makhmudov at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London.
After Fury’s second defeat to Usyk in December 2024, he announced his retirement in January 2025 and sat out the entire year. Then, in January 2026, he declared he was coming back, claiming boxing had become “boring” without him. Makhmudov had caught the eye with his performance against Dave Allen, and the rest, as they say, is history.

The Upcoming Fight Profile: Fury vs. Makhmudov

Fury walks in with a record of 34 wins, 2 losses, 1 draw, and 24 knockouts, and even those two losses came against the undisputed heavyweight world champion, Oleksandr Usyk, in epic back-to-back battles. His last fight on British soil was back in December 2022, so this is a proper homecoming. At the press conference, he promised a sixth-round knockout and swore he’s still in his prime. But let’s have a closer look at who is set to face this April.

Who is Arslanbek Makhmudov?

Makhmudov (pronounced mah-MOO-dov) comes in at 21 wins, 2 losses, and 19 knockouts. That’s a staggering 90% knockout rate, compared to Fury’s 71%. Standing 6ft 3in tall, the 36-year-old Russian-Canadian is a pressure fighter built to walk opponents down and put the lights out.
His two professional losses, to Agit Kabayel and Guido Vianello, showed he can be vulnerable under pressure, but he bounced back well, most recently outpointing British fan favourite Dave Allen over 12 rounds in Sheffield last October to earn the WBA Inter-Continental title. And this fight means a great deal to him – Makhmudov has dreamed of it since he watched a young Fury dethrone Wladimir Klitschko in 2015.
