England, who won the World Cup in 2003, had a great run in the most recent World Cup in 2023, and after they won their Pool, they reached the semi-final, where they were unlucky to be narrowly defeated by South Africa. Autumn Internationals – Twickenham Stadium – England v Australia Hospitality Packages – 2024
England are set to go head-to-head with Australia at Twickenham Stadium in the 2024 Autumn Internationals. The match will be taking place in November 2024.
Steve Borthwick, England’s current Head Coach, has been in his post since he succeeded Eddie Jones in the hot seat on 19th December 2022. His side had an excellent 2023 World Cup campaign, winning their pool before securing a place in the semi-finals against South Africa.
Unfortunately, Borthwick’s side were unlucky to be on the wrong side of a very narrow 15 – 16 defeat at the Stade de France on 21st October 2023.
England and Australia are giants of the rugby world, and they have both achieved the fantastic feat of becoming World Champions. England were 20 – 17 winners against Australia in 2003, whilst their rivals have won the World Cup twice, in 1991 (beating England) and in 1999 (beating France).
England have also seen success in the Six Nations, winning it seven times: 2000, 2001, 2003, 2011, 2016, 2017 & 2020.
Over the years, there have been several memorable matches that have been played between England and Australia. One of these test matches occurred in 2000 when Clive Woodward’s England beat the then-reigning World Champions 22 – 19 at Twickenham.
With the match sat at 19 – 12 in the visitors’ favour, Jonny Wilkinson cut the gap to 19 – 15. After Australia went down to 13 men in the dying embers of the contest, Iain Balshaw chipped the ball to Dan Luger, who managed to score the winning try that sent the Twickenham crowd into raptures.
Overall, England and Australia have played against each other on 55 occasions. And it is England with a superior record of 28 wins, compared to 26. There has been just 1 draw between them.
An incredible atmosphere at Twickenham will surely enhance what is already set to be a blockbuster match between these two nations. All those watching are in for what is set to be an enthralling and intense occasion in November 2024. This will be a match that no England fan will want to miss!
With our 2024 Autumn Internationals Hospitality Packages, you will be able to enjoy all of the action in luxury and style, and you will also be witness to a blockbuster match between two heavyweights of the rugby world!
