Old Mutual Wealth Cup Hospitality Packages now available at Twickenham, the home of England Rugby
England’s traditional May rugby fixture has been transformed.
It has now become the Old Mutual Wealth Cup after the wealth management business agreed a four year deal to sponsor England rugby.
The date is very popular with supporters and offers a kind of celebration of the season that has past.
If the sun shines, it is cue to a brilliant outpouring of fun and colour as the fans take full advantage of the hospitality on offer.
In short, a feast of rugby and a great day out.
It tends also to be a last opportunity to see the England squad perform before they head off on a Southern Hemisphere tour.
It is also the last time the players have to impress the coach before catching their flight.
It has in the past produced some exciting and high quality games even if some players are beginning to feel the bumps and bruises of a long campaign.
The Cup is part of a four-year agreement which has seen Old Mutual Wealth become title partner of the England Men’s and Women’s autumn internationals, the Old Mutual Wealth Series.
The partnership was unveiled at Twickenham Stadium with Old Mutual Wealth Ambassadors and England players Mike Brown, Joe Launchbury and Women’s captain Sarah Hunter.
Sophie Goldschmidt, RFU chief commercial & marketing officer, said: “We are delighted to welcome Old Mutual Wealth to the RFU family in an expanded partnership. As one of the UK’s leading wealth management businesses, they have a fantastic heritage and it’s great to have them make this commitment to men’s and women’s rugby in England.”
Paul Feeney, chief executive, Old Mutual Wealth, said: “It’s a wonderful and rewarding sport. One which manages, uniquely, to bring together extreme passion and mutual respect. As a new breed of wealth manager, we admire that combination and seek to emulate it in our business. We are building Old Mutual Wealth for those who want to make a positive difference, for themselves, their families and their communities. We hope that our involvement with the sport will go beyond the branding, to build the sport and help it prosper.”
Old Mutual Group is an international investment, savings, insurance and banking group founded in 1845.
It is an FTSE 100 company.
Their involvement is a big boost for the sport in England and particularly women’s rugby.
Speaking of the support Old Mutual Wealth will provide to the women’s game Ms Hunter said: “It’s fantastic to have Old Mutual Wealth on board as partner. This is a significant step forward for the women’s game and it’s great to get that recognition from such a leading and respected company.”
Old Mutual Wealth is also supporting a significant grass roots rugby programme, a development welcome to players up and down the land.
Grass roots rugby continues to thrive at all levels from mini and junior up through the schools, university and club structure.
For many clubs, finances can be a struggle so it is particularly appropriate that sponsorship has arrived from a wealth management source.
