Sean Dyche, formerly of Watford and Burnley, is the current Everton Head Coach, and he will be leading his Toffees side into a match against Steve Cooper’s newly promoted Leicester City side at Goodison Park in the 2024/25 Premier League season. With a midtable finish and avoiding relegation comfortably once more in their sights, victory here against the Foxes would be vital for the Toffees.

Everton are set to move to their new 52,888 capacity Everton Stadium as their brand new home ground by the start of the 2025/26 season, so this season will be the Toffees’ last at Goodison Park since they moved there from their previous home, Anfield, all the way back in 1892. Therefore, the club will be wanting to make this season memorable.

Dyche succeeded the Blues’ previous Head Coach, Frank Lampard, on 30th January 2023. And, in his first half-season in charge, he managed to lead his new side to a 17thplace finish, which saw them avoid a first-ever relegation in the Premier League era by a margin of just two points in the end.

Then, last season, 2023/24, Sean Dyche guided the club to a much more comfortable 15th-place finish with a total of 40 points, which meant that they avoided relegation by a margin of at least 14 points.

Moving on to Leicester City, following the departure of Enzo Maresca to Chelsea, who led them back to the Premier League at the first time of asking last season, left the club in early June, former Nottingham Forest Head Coach Steve Cooper officially succeeded the Italian on Thursday 20th June 2024.

During his time with Nottingham Forest, Steve Cooper promoted them to the Premier League in the 2021/22 season after beating Huddersfield Town 1 – 0 in the 2022 EFL Championship Play-Off Final. Cooper led them to safety with a 16th-place finish with 38 points. He would leave the club halfway through the 2023/24 season on 19 December 2023, with the Welshman being succeeded at the City Ground by Nuno Espirito Santo.

These two clubs have gone head to head in all competitions a total of 119 times, and Everton has the superior record of 45 wins compared with the Foxes’ record of 39 to date, as of the time of writing. There have been, so far, 35 draws between these two teams.
