Marco Silva leads his Fulham side into a crucial game against Bournemouth, who are led by their Spanish Head Coach Andoni Iraola, at the iconic and historic Craven Cottage in the heart of West London during the 2025/26 Premier League season. This match will see two clubs looking for European qualification this season go head to head, and it would be a significant statement and three points for the Cottagers should they win.
If Fulham were to secure European football this season, it would mean they would be playing on the European stage for the first time since their last appearance in Europe in the 2011/12 season, when they competed in the highly prestigious UEFA Europa League. The Cottagers will be looking for a top-seven finish this term to have the chance to see how they do against a variety of teams from across the continent of Europe.
They had to go through four rounds of qualifying before eventually getting into the group stage, and in these qualifiers, they were able to get the better of a variety of teams, including the likes of NSI Runavik (Faroe Islands, 3 – 0 agg.), Crusaders (Northern Ireland, 7 – 1 agg.), RNK Split (Croatia, 2 – 0 agg.), and finally Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk (Ukraine, 3 – 1 agg).
Then as for the Group Stages themselves, the Cottagers were unfortunately knocked out at this particular stage of the competition after finishing down in third place in their group after all of their matches at this point in the tournament had been played. The West Midlands Club managed to secure victories against Denmark’s Odense and Polish outfit Wisla Krakow, both of whom were beaten 2–0 and 4–1, respectively.
Marco Silva’s first full season in charge was all the way back in the 2021/22 EFL Championship campaign, in which Fulham were the dominant force in what is English Football’s second tier. They amassed a total of 90 points, scoring no less than 106 goals on their way to the title, which earned them automatic promotion to the Premier League, where they have been ever since. They finished two points ahead of the runners-up, which were Bournemouth, who themselves have been in the top flight ever since this campaign.
As for his most recent full season in charge in 2024/25, Silva and Fulham were amongst the sides like Bournemouth who were fighting for European Football for much of the season, but they, unfortunately, missed out in the end thanks to what was an 11th place finish after ending up with a points total of no less than 54, but they did miss out on the top seven by a margin of 11 points in the end.
Moving on to Bournemouth, they have been under the stewardship of Spaniard Andoni Iraola ever since their incumbent Head Coach was appointed back on 19th June 2023. His first season in charge (2023/24) saw his side finish up in 12th place after accumulating a total of 48 points from their 38 matches that term.
Then last season the Cherries broke their club record for points in a top flight season when they earned no less than 56 points to earn a 9th place finish, and just a couple of positions above Fulham. The club from the South Coast were 9 points adrift of European football in the end.
Overall, Fulham and Bournemouth have met competitively in all competitions on no less than 41 occasions, and it is Bournemouth who have the most victories in this fixture with the Cherries having 16 wins to their name against the Cottagers, who themselves have beaten their South Coast rivals 12 times overall. There have been 13 draws between these two clubs so far, as of the time of writing.
