Premier League: Biggest Summer Transfers so far

Take a look at the biggest done deals of the 2025 Summer Transfer Window for clubs in the Premier League so far.

There is less than a month to go until the much anticipated 2025/26 Premier League season finally gets underway, with the twenty best teams in the country competing to realise their ambitions for the latest top flight campaign in the history of each club.

Whilst there have been a plethora of transfers that have been made in England’s top tier so far, there have been a select few that have grabbed the headlines. This has been due to the high reputation and great ability of the player themselves, together with the incredible transfer fees paid for their services. Here, we are going to take a look at the five biggest transfers to have happened so far in the Premier League.

The majority of these moves have been made by clubs that anticipate being in this season’s title race, with clubs always seeking that advantage over their competitors in the race to get their hands on that trophy and become the latest English Champions. Reigning Champions Liverpool have been amongst the most active clubs in the 2025 Summer Transfer Window so far.

5: Matheus Cunha (Wolves to Manchester United) – £62.5 million

We will start with Matheus Cunha’s move from Wolves to fellow Premier League club Manchester United. The Brazilian forward was the star player for the Midlands club last season before his move to Old Trafford – in the league alone, he scored 15 goals while also providing 6 assists in 33 top flight appearances. He also scored 2 goals in as many games in the 2024/25 FA Cup.

The transfer fee to take him to Ruben Amorim’s United is rumoured to be £62.5 million, where he has also signed a 5 year contract with an option for another year.

4: Viktor Gyokeres (Sporting CP to Arsenal) – £64 million

Next up is the most recent transfer on this list, with Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal confirming the signing of Sporting’s star Swedish striker Victor Gyokeres, who has been one of European and World football’s most prolific forwards over recent years. Last season, he scored no less than 39 goals in 33 appearances in the Portuguese top flight alone, with him having also made 8 assists to boot.

His move to the Red Side of North London was completed for a rumoured fee of £64 million. He signed a five year contract with the Gunners.

3: Bryan Mbeumo (Brentford to Manchester United) – £65 million

We now move on to Bryan Mbeumo, who has recently completed his move from Brentford to Manchester United after being one of the most exciting forwards in the league in recent times. Last season, Mbeumo was able to make no less than 20 goals in 38 Premier League games, whilst he was also able to get 8 assists for his teammates as well with the Bees last term.

It was a rumoured transfer fee of £65 million that took him from Brentford to United in the end, with Ruben Amorim his new manager.

2: Hugo Ekitiké (Eintracht Frankfurt to Liverpool) – £79 million

Onto the top two now, with both transfers a forward joining Liverpool. The first is Hugo Ekitike, with the Frenchman making the move from German club Eintracht Frankfurt to Anfield. Last season, he was able to score as many as 15 goals whilst also getting 8 assists to boot in 33 league appearances in the German top flight last term.

His move to Arne Slot’s Liverpool saw the Reds pay a rumoured transfer fee of up to £79 million, with him signing a six year contract.

1: Florian Wirtz (Bayer Leverkusen to Liverpool) – £116 million

We now move on to by far the most expensive and high profile transfer involving a Premier League club this summer, which is German attacking midfielder Florian Wirtz’s move to Liverpool from German Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen. Last season, he was able to score 10 goals whilst also getting as many as 13 assists in his 31 appearances in the league. He also got 6 goals and 1 assist in the UEFA Champions League last season.

The 2025 Summer Transfer Window is set to close at 7pm on the evening of Monday 1st September, and there is plenty of time for more major transfers to take place, with several Premier League clubs still looking to add further quality to their squads. With all clubs looking to give themselves the best chance of realising their ambitions for the season, we should be in for an exciting next few weeks of transfers.

Excitement and anticipation are both building rapidly ahead of the start of the 2025/26 Premier League season to get underway, and all eyes will be on the action to come, with teams set to fight for the title, for European Football, or to avoid the disaster that is relegation to the EFL Championship.
